the code strip is the plastic strip that runs across the printer and through the head
carriage, it is supported at each end (one end under spring tension).
If it has become dislodged it will cause this problem. carefully try to place it back into place

SOURCE: Black ink

The PGBK cartridge is a pigment black ink, while the others use a dye for coloration. The pigment black is used when printing text and other documents. The dye ink is used when printing photos and other colored documents. The dye black is used in conjunction with the color (dye) inks to provide tinting and color gradation, and therefore is not used nearly as much as the pigment black unless you use your printer only for printing photos.

If you're printing text and documents, you will need to buy another pigment black (PGBK) cartridge.

SOURCE: I need a tool to reset my canon pixma iP4600 ink cartridges

I found the only tool I have seen at this url. http://www.patronenhandel.de/shop/index.php/cat/c13943_Canon-Chipresetter.html It is a German company, but I was able to order the resetter from them with no problems. It has worked very well, but was a little expensive. part of the problem was that the US dollar and Euro were not at a favorable exchange rate when I ordered. I didn't get any answers to my emails to them, but when I used there site to order, it took about a week to get the device. It is very simple to use.

SOURCE: canon pixma ip4600 black ink problem

The PGI-220 is the larger ink tank and is filled with standard black ink. The PGI-221 black cartridge is the photo black. There is no way to force the printer to use the photo black cartridge (skinny one) to print documents. The photo black cartridge is only used if you print a photo. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling shop and I can't refill these cartridges yet. There is no way to reset the ink level chip without a resetter and any replacement chips you find on the internet are technically violating patent law.

How can i refilkl the ink of my printer canon pixma ip2770

open the top lid cover.
The printer carriage ink will position itself in the middle.
Lift up the cover and gently remove the ink cartridges upward.
Examine the ink cartridge. Drill a small hole at the mid section at the top of the cartridge. Small enough for the syringe carrying the ink to get in. Do not push the needle of the syringe inside so far, cause this may damage he foam inside the cartridge. Press gently and slowly the ink in the syringe. After filling up the cartridge , do not forget to cover the small opening as this may dry up the ink.
Return back the cartridge to he printer.

After that reset the printer. Press and hold down the resume button and wait untill the printer restart itself.

Hope it helps.

MFC-665CW "unable to print" 30 error what can I do to resolve this problem? I think I had a papaer jam and my sister pulled the paper out and still had an issue. help!!

Several conditions may cause the error message Machine Error 30 to be displayed on the LCD. This error may be the result of one of the following:
  • The print head carriage is failing to return to its home position to the far right of the unit.
  • Both of the springs located on each side of the carriage is out of place.
  • The cartridge covers may not be locked securely in place.

Please follow the instructions listed below to correct this problem:

  1. Press the INK button on the Control Panel.

  2. Using the dial pad, press 2 (Replace Ink). The display will prompt you PLS OPEN COVER.

  3. Pull the Scanner Cover release lever located under the Control Panel and lift the Scanner cover. The carriage should move to the left in order to replace the ink. If the carriage does not move to the left, your machine will require service.

  4. After the carriage moves to the left, press down each cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges from the machine. There are 2 springs located on each side of the carriage that hold the print head against the carriage assembly. They are thin silver springs approximately 64mm or 2 1/2 inches, set at an angle.

  5. If the spring is out of place, press the spring back into place. You can use the spring on the opposite side of the carriage as a guide as to the correct position.

  6. If the spring is not out of place, reinstall each ink cartridge.

  7. After installing the ink cartridges, close the covers and verify they are securely locked into place. Your machine then prepares for a head cleaning and goes online. The LCD screen prompts you to verify if a new ink cartridge was inserted for each color you removed. For example, DID YOU CHANGE BLCK 1. YES 2. NO.

  8. Press 2 (No).
Note
If you decided to place a new ink cartridge in for any of the colors when uninstalling and reinstalling the cartridges in the above process, press 1 (Yes). The machine will automatically go through a cleaning cycle.

The unit should then return to date and time. If Machine Error 30 continues to appear on the display, your unit will require service.

Canon Pixma iP4600 not printing cyan

I had the same problem and I finally FIXED IT. I first tried replacing cartridges - no good, I then took the print head out, dismantled it and washed every component, no good. I then noticed that there were small streaks of blue on the paper when I tried to print a blue image so I worked out that the blue ink is getting through, but very slowly (yours might not be getting through at all but don?t worry this should still fix it). So I got a very thin pin and pushed it into the cyan pad on the print head creating a thin channel for the ink. Tried to print again, perfect, blue now working. Hope this helps - remember, you do this AT YOUR OWN RISK, there is no guarantee this will work for you, it worked for me but there is the obvious risks that you may break your printer. I did it because it was broken as far as I was concerned and I had nothing to lose if it broke completely, you must make that choice yoursel

Will not print black ink

On the carriage that holds the black ink there is a flat metal spring that pushes the cartridge when you install it, pull it up a bit to give some tension to the cartridge when you install it and assuming you may be using a new cartridge it will be fine

ERROR6502

Error 6502 is a ink tank position error, one of the contacts for the ink tank in the carriage could be bad, or simply a wrong cartridge installed. You can't use photo magenta in a magenta slot, or photo cyan in a cyan slot.

The colored ink cannot be recognized

Try cleaning the metal plate sensor contact located inside the ink carriage.
Try different cartridges.
Reinstall printer software and test printer on a different computer.
If you still ge the problem, then the wiring connection to the ink carriage may have a problem.

Alarm says "wrong cartridge"

That happens when the print head sensor does not detect the cartridge.

To start unplug printer power cord for two minutes, and see if this can reset the error.

The wrong cartridge error may be caused also by a bad cartridge, therefore ,as first step you need to est a different cartridge, possibly a new original one.

Check also if the cartridge metal sensor inside the ink carriage is dirty and must be clean, in this case use isopropyl alcohol and cotton to clean metal contacts inside the carriage.

If that cannot fix the problem, then there is a lose connection on the wires connected to the ink carriage / print head assembly. TWhen that happens, the wires connected at the back of the ink carriage must be tested and eventually replaced.

Dont know how to remove the ink cartridges from Canon iP4600

managed to get the ink cartridges out and put them back in again. It was vert tricky to get them out. They have to be pushed out from the top of each cartridge first. I got a work colleague to do it for me and he agreed it was very awkward to do compared to other printers.
