Same problem....Model 417 Kenmore (Frigidaire) "Ad" error message

symptoms are >> No heat > drum is turning > "Ad" error message comes on > dryer shuts down > status lights flash.

What is an "Ad" error...owners manual does not address this message...or the fix required. OM does suggest 1 of 2 fuses may be blown...?

Fridgidare dryer with AD error. I understand its really not an error message but indicates Auto Dry setting. Well, I didn't enable that and have no idea how to turn it off. How do you disable the auto dry setting?

Check your breakers. Mine was doing the same thing, all of the 120v parts of the machine were working. (blower/drum motor/ lights) However the element wasn't coming on. Went to the breaker and found that one side of the 2 pole breaker was tripped. Turned both off and back on. Heater started working again.

When you set the dryer on settings such as normal or permanent press, it engages the various sensors that help the dryer to make the most efficient use of energy. Moisture sensor, heat sensor etc. (THAT IS WHAT TURNS ON YOUR AD SETTING) Normally it selects a time based on factory settings that it believes your load should be dried by. Say 50 minutes at Normal (high heat, normal) Every so often during the cycle, the machine will check the humidity sensor and the other sensors and try to see if the dryer is still on schedule. Sometimes it will determine that more time is needed, occasionally less time. While it calculates, it displays the Ad meaning that the machine is on auto dry. TO TURN OFF AUTO DRY, set it to a time setting instead of a DESCRIPTION setting.

When you put it on the "normal" setting it will bring in the dampness sensor into drying, "Ad" isn't an error code its saying that its sensing how much moisture is in the load you have in the dryer. Instead of using the "normal" setting use the time intervals (15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90) instead. I find the sensor doesn't totally work when on normal setting anyways.

In checking the manual, AD appears to refer to "Auto Dry" setting, meaning the dryer is sensing the dampness and adjusting the drying time automatically.

SOURCE: LED display on dryer reads AD???

All this is doing is letting you know that the Auto dry sensors are kicked in and checking to see how dry the clothing is.

Frigidaire affinity dryer code ad

Hey Cindy, thanks for your submission!
I see that your Frigidaire dryer is displaying an error code of "ad". The "ad" error code will display with the "Auto Dry" cycle has been selected. If you did not select the auto dry cycle I would suggest performing a reset on your dryer and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for at least ten minutes. Once power has been restored to the dryer and if the error code is still persistent you may need to have a replacement control panel or wiring harness installed. I would recommend having electrical parts replaced by a professional technician this will prevent any personal injury. Best of luck! -Matt

WHAT DOES CODE AD MEAN ON THE DRYER

If your dryer is set to "auto dry" the display will show AD initially and then may show a number which is the estimated time for the clothes to dry in auto dry mode. The display may also show CD (Cool Down) and DN (Done) during the cycle.

Kenmore dryer code ad

The "Ad" in the display indicates that the dryer is in the Auto Dry cycle.

The dryer will run in the Auto Dry cycle until the moisture sensor bars detect no more moisture in the garments being dried. The machine will then go into a cool down period and then end the cycle.

If the dryer is getting unusually hot, I recommend checking for a restriction in the air flow. Make sure that your lint screen is properly cleaned before starting every cycle. Check the flexible vent hose behind the dryer for a kink or a restriction. Check the exhaust ducting to the outside of the house for lint build-up or a restriction. This may help the dryer perform properly.

Ad error code

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that you are receiving an "AD" error code on your Frigidaire dryer, model# AGQ7000E. I also see that your dryer is not heating. The "AD" code states that your appliance is in an auto dry cycle. I suggest resetting your dryer, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any cycle. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please let me know the error codes displayed on your appliance. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Error code AD error code DN

it means auto dry it will check the temp of the clothes so if they dryer quicker then 40-45 minutes it will shut off earlier instead of running the full 40-45 minutes. In the manual it says AD is the adjusting time according to moisture level for those who keep drying but display this it is normal for those who display and size to dry is not normal if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to help others in similar situations Thanks Rick

Displayed codes

Hi,
Error code "AD" means air/automatic dry. This type of dryer has no thermo fuse which is a fuse like part that tends to break disengaging the heating element, there for the dryer has a busted heating element. There is no other go you should go for a replacement of your heating element. This solution will solve your problem.

During normal operation, the display may show: “ad” - dryer is in an auto dry cycle. “dn” - cycle is done in auto dry. “PF” - a power failure to the board has occurred. “Err” - an error has been detected. “LOC” - control lock is activated. “PAU” - cycle has been interrupted.
