The Sony NWZ-3438F uses only the 'Track #' in the tag to order songs, not file name, not 'Disc #', and not 'Title.' Your file names are likely in the order you want, but the tags are likely not updated with the same information. Use a program (like mp3tag) to modify the tags and assign the 'Track #' in the order that you want it to play. Good luck!

Update: As I've played with my Sony a little more, I've found that it does use more than just 'Track #' to order the songs. As I originally posted, the Sony still gathers it's information from the tag data and not from the filename. So if you want to order your songs, you'll have to use tagging software like mp3tag. It appears that 'Artist' is the first field that it sorts on. 'Track #' is a secondary field.

What should be a simple project has me mindboggled. All I want to do is load 2 albums to give as a gift - I have 3 of this player. I can load each album but can't figure out how to set the order so it...

I found a user manual for this player on the SanDisk forums. You can read the full manual here: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/836/kw/dap/r_id/101834
This player does not support playlists, so if you want to play the albums separately, you will have to organize them into folders. So, make one folder for each album and title them appropriately, then move the folders over to the device, and each album will be in its own folder under ROOT.

Problem with my ripped music

I clearly understand your problem.....the best way to sort it would be to create a new music folder...put all album folders separately in this new folder....rename songs in the respective albums folder and then sync this folder to your player....try with a couple of songs first...if it works you can change your entire library as mentioned above....a difficult job...but helps manage your music better..:)

Get album art on g1

To do this you're going to have to re-copy all of the music you want album art for to your G1! Sorry! But here goes...
Firstly, the reason the album art isn't there is because it wasn't bought online, therefore the album art may not be encoded onto the songs. However it's not that hard to encode art yourself on Windows Media Player.
You have to look for the album art online, and save it on your computer. Then, find the songs you want on Windows Media Player (if they are from the same album then ctrl+click them all) then right click. On the right-click menu there should be an option called Advanced Tag Editor. Click that, then the Pictures Tab, and click Add. Then find your album art and select Cover (Front) from the Picture Type drop down menu. Hopefully that will encode your songs with the album art, then you can sync them with WMP or copy and paste them as normal.

[V-Touch] Organizing Music File

make sure that all of your id3 tags are correct and filled in for each music file before dragging and dropping. initially when i added files to my vtouch, the player recognized them automatically and added them to the standard playlists. every time i add files now, i have to manually add each one to the playlists by touching MUSIC > ADD TO AUDIOLIST > ADD TO AUDIOLIST. Then you should be in the AUDIO folder. Double touch AUDIO to view it's contents (which should now be your 'artist' folders, if you organized it that way). Go into an artist folder and double touch each track to add it to the playlists. You should see a "wait..." message and then "success" for each track you add. BUT they are not added yet, my friend. I KNOW! WHAT A PAIN!!! So when you are done adding tracks, you need to touch the back arrow to get back to the MUSIC menu. Then touch UPDATE AUDIO LIB. This may take a few minutes depending on how many tracks you added. When it's done, you should have all the tracks you added in all of the playlists.

Some songs from that were put on disappeared

I never use Windows Media to add music to my sansa... If you want all music to show up click on my computer and then click on the icon for your sansa. there may be a folder that says music but if not it is a hidden folder. if this is so you must go to tools, then folder options, and then the tab that says view. under this will be an option that says hidden files and folders and click show hiden fles and folders and OK. this should allow you to see the music folder. from here on you can just copy and paste all files.

Cant arrange songs according to my way

I used ID3-TagIT to change the album name of my songs to the name of the folder on my Sansa c250 that I want to put the songs in. Open your Sansa in My Computer, double click on Internal Memory and open the music folder. Add a new folder and name it whatever you put in for the album name of your songs. Highlight all your songs and drag and drop them into your folder. Don't use media player to sync or they end up all mixed up in different folders.

When i connect to the computer, i can add songs, but the songs on it dont show up

I don't know if you've inadvertently deleted the music folder, but that's what I did, when I deleted all the folders by mistake, thank heavens for in-store warrenty, they replaced it with another one. What I noticed on my replacement is synchronizing with media player doesn't work, it creates ghost folders and thinks music is there when it isn't, I don't understand it. Solution: open two windows for my music and sansa e280 music, then just drag and drop the folders; what I noticed is that in my music the folders are named by artist, and I prefer to see them by album, but when I view them in the player, I see the albums with the tracks in the right order.

Deleting songs

Chances are that you are using windows xp. open up your sansa folder to where it says pictuer, movies, ect. look at the picture to see what to do. In your player folder click tools --> folder options --> View. Under hidden files and folders click 'show hidden files and folders, click ok. The music folder would now show up where the videos and pictures are. Simply open the music folder and delete the ones you do not want. By default the songs are sorted by artist --> album --> song.
