I try and scan by pressing the "scan" button on the printer but nothing happens. I checked to see if it was connected and installed into my computer in the control panel and it was. I created my profile and ran the scan test and everything seems ok. I tryed to scan again and again nothing. Only thing the scanner (printer) does is blink the power light.

The scanner on the HP Deskjet worked for a few weeks and then stopped. Re- installation did not help. Drivers I dowloaded did not help.

Press on the scan button and the power lamp only blinks. Seeing the number of people with excatly the same problem, I can only conclude tha ttis is a serious bug in this printer.

I have the HP Deskjet 380, and it's worked fine for a long time. I just put a new ink cartridge in, and it printed out a test page that said to scan the page. I tried to scan the test page, but it the red error 'E' was flashing, and it wouldn't let me. The printer works fine, the ink cartridge is in correctly, however because it won't scan the test page, it refuses to print!! The printer is definitely connected, but it can't detect the scanner. I have tried to scan the test page over and over again, when I press the scan button, the power light blinks it makes a small noise and then nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

I have this problem w/a different printer adding it to a computer w/OS Vista. Go to Start, All programs, Accessories, Paint and open that program. Click on File and then From Scanner or Camera. Make sure your all in one is turned on. Unfortunely, there is no fix to make the scanner button work if it is not compatable, such as my 'all in one' w/Vista. Hope this helps. Linda

plz check in my computer is your scanner is visible, if yes then right click on the scanner and select scan and follow the on screen suggestions,
if your scanner is not visible in my computer then you have to install it with the cd which come along with the scanner

HP F380 not scanning

This has happened to me on several occasions with a couple of different HP all-in-one scanner/printer's. The HP driver/program itself may be in a phase where it's attempting to complete a scan, which would prevent you from scanning anything else. You can confirm whether or not this is the problem by restarting your computer and attempting another scan. You'll get an error message saying the scanner is currently in use. You may want to try to completely remove the installation files for the scanner, and reinstall either from the disk or let windows install it for you via "plug and play". Then update the drivers from hp's website. See if that resolves your problem.
