What are you guys talking about?

The TI-30XA has a 10 digit display, so you can enter up to 10 digits for the numerator and 10 for the denominator before hitting "="

I need help with improper fractions may you please help me thanks

An improper fraction is simply a fraction with the numerator being larger than the denominator.

To make it an improper fraction from the mixed number given, just multiply the whole number (2) by the denominator (3), then add the numerator (2). The result is the new numerator and the denominator remains the same.

In this case (2 2/3), it would be 2 * 3 + 2 for the numerator....or 8. So 8/3 would be the improper fraction.

Can you help me on this question?

This answer is correct. 4/12 divided by 2/2= 1/3
The reciprocal of 2/2 is 2/2
Then you multiply straight across and reduce to get 1/3

What are 4 different fractions that are equal to 1 1/2

Hi Anonymous,
You can make equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing both top and bottom by the same amount, but only multiply or divide, never add or subtract, to get an equivalent fraction.
I've only shown the fraction part of your question as 1 is a whole number.
1/2 = 2/4, or 4/8, or 8/16 or 16/32 or 32/64 & so on.
Going the other way, dividing 2/4 by 2 will give 1/2.
But, only divide when the top and bottom would still be whole numbers, for instance you wouldn't use divide for odd number fractions, for example 1/3 or 3/5 etc.
Trust this helps, best regards Alan

What is an improper fraction

A proper fraction is one where the numerator is less than the denominator 1/3, 2/3,1/4, 5/9. All these values are less than 1.
Take now the fraction 17/8. This is not a proper fraction because the numerator is NOT less the denominator. The result can be written as a mixed number (2 1/8) or an improper fraction (17/8)

Why can't i see this integer as a fraction

By hand you can write every integer you wish as a fraction with denominator 1. 4=4/1, 13=13/1. You can even generate all the equivalent fractions of any integer, for example -4=(-8/2)=8/(-2)=-8/2=-12/3=...
However, simple calculators are designed with a feature called automatic simplification. That is why ever result that is a fraction that is equivalent to an integer is written as that integer. Fractions are reduced to their simplest form. Call it a design flaw if you want but that is how it is.

How do I on a TI-84 Plus Simplify Fractions

Enter the fraction for example: enter 8/12.
The answer will be .666666
Then click Math (which is located under the Alpha button).
Click the ->Frac button (the first one).
It should come up as Ans->Frac.
Click Enter.
It should now read 2/3 which is 8/12 reduced.
Note: I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, and the TI-84 Plus might not have this function, but that is how I do it on my TI-84 Plus Silver Edition
