Question about Dell E193FP 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Dell E193FPC - Screen is getting too bright.

I have this flat monitor for 2 years now, yesterday suddently the screen starts to getting brighter and is not possible to adjust it with the monitors controls.
I was wondering if this has to do with replacing the light inverter.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dell E193FPC - Screen is getting too bright.

This is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. Power on both CPU and monitor. You check that you can see the image on the screen. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. Like me, I can see window image using flashlight and check lamps inside. Some of them were broken and it is easily replaced. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.

On my Dell E193fpc monitor, the background lighting goes off after a few seconds. The actual Screen-image is still there (can be seen in bright sunlight). How can I get the backlighting to work proper

This sounds as though there might be a problem with the inverter (this is a component that supplies a high voltage for a tube(s) that illuminate the screen.

As there are high voltages on inverters, this is really a job for a repair shop.

More then likely this is all it can handle form your PC. Two things, I would check see what the screen can handle and see what your video card or chip can put out.

Dell Flat Screen goes from good to bad

Check that the connection from monitor to computer are tight. Maybe disconnect and then reconnect tightly. The most likely problem if the connection if good is your graphics card. Most of the time these are embedded on your motherboard meaning the entire board would need replacing, some graphic cards are external cards that are easier to troubleshoot and replace. Try the connections and let me know. Is the computer older than the monitor, or were they purchased together? What is the warranty status?

Dell e193FPc monitor

The backlight or inverter may be bad. With the monitor on and the room dark, hold a flashlight very close and shine it on the screen . If you can see the normal display the monitor is OK but the backlight or the inverter which provides proper voltage to the backlight has gone bad.
