Gear problem Stuck in first gear. When I went to put into reverse from 1st gear it seemed to go back farther than usually, so I then put into neutral and put emergency brake on. The car then killed. Felt like linkage was messed up inside when moving shifter around in neutral area. The shifter also looked as if it was going to pop out the front when trying to put into 2nd, 4th, and reverse. What is the problem? How much will it cost to get fixed?

SOURCE: 96 plymouth voyager no shift

you say the fluid looks good... that's great.
now next time your out drive for about ten good minuetes long enough for the transmission to get nice and warm and then pull over to nice level ground and with the vehicle in park check the fluid again. it's kind of hard to read because it always has a lot of bubbles on it and stuff. but it may be low on fluid.. good-luck ray

SOURCE: It seems the linkage on my stick shifter broke.

Sound about right. Get under your car and familiarize yourself with it. You should see the linkage and you will see a pin. The pin could have broken.
