SOURCE: Dishwasher soap dispenser sticks

Mine dishwasher (a Maytag) did this also. At first it was becoming stuck because of the soap. My repair guy cleaned it and I switched to liquid soap and it worked great another 2 years then did it again. That time it was just wore out and had to be replaced. I was told it was no longer available but we found it here our repair guy installed it. He was amazed because he had even called everywhere.

Your soap is clotting because there isn't enough water being sprayed around inside.  The water spray washes the soap out of the dish, if all is working well.  My machine had the same problem.  I had sufficient water level, but the spray head wasn't spinning very well.  I found the end-most hole in the spray bar to be plugged.  It is the end hole that provides a jet that makes the head spin.  I cleaned a bunch of debris out of the hole and the mchine started working and cleaning like it was new.  That was quite an axccomplishment since the machine is 15 years old.

My dishwasher door springs appear not to work and will not hold the door open. How do you replace or reattach the springs? Thanks, JoAnne

they actually arent springs, it is a cable and has probably broken or come apart. You can order this part through KitchenAid and replace yourself. Or call a repair rep.

Candy 650 dishwasher.....opened door and loud cracking sound, door now very heavy. Think door spring snapped, how do i get to it and where do i get spares from?

The door springs are attached to the bottom of each side of the door. You have to pull the dishwasher out far enough to see the area or all the way out if you have sides on yours. It hooks on the door and another hook on the washer frame.
Post your model number HERE to find a diagram and parts.

Have problem with door on Frigidaire Electolux dishwasher. Door "falls open" rather than eases open.

there is a spring that connects to the side of the door (both right and left) than connects to the holes on the bottom of the dishwasher frame. These springs have either fallen off or broken. To see the area where they connect you will need to remove the very bottom panels below the door. Look at the frame where the leg height adjustment screws are and you will see several holes in the frame the springs will most likely be right there and just need to be reconnected to the frame itself. If the springs are not there then the springs will more than likely be right at the bottom left and right side of the doors. These springs should be set in the 3rd hole back from the front if the door drop is still too fast set the spring further back on the frame.

Hope this helped

I opened teh door and thought i felt something hit

Murray, It sounds like one of the door springs has broken and that is why the door seems heavier and opens with much more force.

You'll want to at least make a temporary repair and order a new replacment spring to get your dishwasher working like it should and so it's safer too.

You can check to see which side of the dishwasher the spring broke, by locking the door shut (with the cycle set to "off"). Now remove the lower access panel, beneath the main dishwasher door. There are a couple of screws near the top corner edges of the panel, just under the main door and a couple more on the toe kick near the very bottom.

Once you've got the lower access panel off, you'll be able to see the two door springs, (there is one on each side). Of course, the broken one might have fallen off the spring notches, so look around and you should see it.

With the door still closed and locked, you can remove the broken spring and see if it's just the hook end that broke. If that's the case, you can reform the end hook using a couple pairs of pliers and reinstall the spring on the door and frame mounting points. You'll have to use pliers to stretch the spring slightly to get it on the other mounting point, once you've got one end on a mounting point. If the spring broke off more than 3 coils, you'll need to replace it with a new one.

You can find a replacement by using and putting in your model number to locate a line drawing and parts listing for your particular model. You can also order a new one from them, or use the part number to get one locally, if you wish.

Once you've got the spring back on the door and cabinet mount points, you can unlock the door and gently lower the door to see if everything is working properly. Once you've opened and closed the door several times, you can reinstall the lower access panel and you're back in business.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

You will need to bring the DW about 8-10 inches out from under the counter to access the door springs on the side of the unit.

Any questions, let me know

Where can I buy the cable repair kit for my Kitchenaid dishwasher

OK, pretty easy fix. Look at diagram 10 here:

The link (#24) probably broke and the spring (#18) probably shot off and is lying somewhere behind the dishwasher. Just pull out the dishwasher (careful not to disconnect or crimp any of the hoses) and check to see if both springs (one on each side) can be located. Just replace the old links and re-hook the springs and all should be well.

You can order the link replacement (part #8194001) from kitchenaid at 1-800-422-1230.

Bosch Dishwasher

Hi ED, It sounds like a real problem here. If the springs are still in one piece, my best guess is to to remove the springs from the door. Then attach the springs to the dishwasher body first, then reattach the spring to the door. Not an easy job, good luck. If you have further problems check with, as the repairguru there may be of more help.
