I have a similar problem, any solution? For me, when I type a question mark or press the down arrow on my keyboard it will do what it is supposed to do and then insert one or two unwanted spaces.

Keyboard ribbon connector on the motherboard

Cut a piece of sturdy clear plastic packaging material (like memory packaging, etc.) or extra ribbon cable - cut it the width of your ribbon cable and long enough to handle.

Insert your ribbon cable into the socket and then insert the clear plastic or extra ribbon cable you cut to size into the socket above the ribbon cable.

This usually will hold the ribbon cable in the socket snuggly with enough pressure not to move and make a good contact for proper operation.
If you want cut and add a small piece of high temperature electrical tape to the socket, insert and cable. I do not recommend scotch tape as it becomes googey at high tempersture.

ACER TRAVELMATE 602TER: NEED TO REPLACE CMOS BATTERY. WHERE IS IT LOCATED? IF UNDER KEYBOARD, HOW DO I LIFT THE KEYBOARD (I DON'T SEE ANY SCREWS OR A FRAME AROUND THE KEYBOARD!) THE ONLY PIECE...

most netbooks allow the keyboard to be lifter out ,,upwards after inserting a thin piece of plastic/screwdriver at the reccommended points around the keyboard, usually there are tiny sprung clips that need to be pushed, you can hardly see them ,be carefull if you manage to lift the board out be gentle and do not tug or force it as it will be connected with a ribbon type cable to a very fragile plastic clip/socket.
Even this socket/clip will have another plastc sprung device holding the ribbon cable in so be carefull with it.
The CMOS battery is just like a watch battery held to the motherboard with a steel sprung clip, you might have to unscrew the motherboard first rarely this battery might be soldered in place so you might need to have an iron handy.

To clean your laptop's keyboard you have to look under your laptop, you can see like keyboard icons with some scews, so, open them, they will let yout to remove your keyboard.
So now your can remove just your keyboard slowly for some connectors on the motherboard then clean it with a tooth brush.

You can only clean your keyboard with a toothbrush without rmoving it,

Try to remove the space bar key and clean under it.

Try to hard press the space bar for about 5 times, it can release the pusher under the key.

it some liquid was spilt on it you have to remove the keyboard and clean the plastic under ther keyboard.

I dont know how to connect the keyboard to my computer does it have any soft ware or extra wire to connect?

The keyboard does not have any software (It is plug and play). It has only a single wire. There are two different type of connectors at the end of these wires.
Some keyboards have PS/2 connectors and the connectors are round shaped and other keyboards have USB connectors which are flat in shape.
Take a good look at all the wholes on your computer and at the same time look at you connector (It will be either PS/2 or USB) and slowly and carefully insert the connectors.

note:There are two types of PS/2 connectors. One is for mouse(usually green colored) and the other for Keyboard (usually violet colored). Insert you keyboard accordingly.

Replacing or repairing the space bar on my toshiba M55 laptop

Hi:
The whole keyboard can be replaced relatively inexpensively.

Keyboards are usually around $15 on ebay, and are not hard to replace.

If you have to hire a tech, it still isn't an expensive job.

I spilled a coke on my desk and my key pad got wet I immediately dried it off and put it upside down, but its been a little off by inserting spaces where they don,t belong(I just read this and it,s better...

Coke is sticky when dried, if you can, disconnedt the keyboard and pull the keys off, a flat blade screwdriver should work and wipe everything down.
Or buy a new keyboard for about 10 bucks
