hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down
screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in
view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have
you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead
from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is
completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i
think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up
.good luck hope it works
Most likely a Y sustain module failure. Gateway does not make a set, so I would need a part number off of the board in order to give you an exact price of the part. Usually they're around $300.00
Getting back to your set, I would definitely not put one penny into a repair. Instead, cut your losses and upgrade to digital, right now the prices are shockingly low. good luck with it.

For the solutution repair of the Gateway Model GTW-L17M103 TV 1/2 lit screen - I was told by a local authorized Sanyo Flat Screen Repair shop that the lamp or bulb is going out and needs to be replaced. He said the replacement would run around $125. I have the same problem as well and now am seeking to purchase a lamp/bulb.
