Question about Microsoft Deluo Universal GPS USB connector with Streets and Trips 2005 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Cursor bouncing Sometimes, when I first plug in the GPS sensor to the USB, my cursor goes crazy. It bounces all over the screen, opens things like they were being left and right clicked, the sidebar is moved around like the gadgets and being dragged. The cursor stops bouncing if I unplug it. The only way to get this to stop is to restart the computer completely. The bouncing even happens when I bring the computer out of hibernation and the GPS is already plugged in.

Re: Cursor bouncing

I have had some similar issues, I find I must wait till my mapping program is fully open and running before I plug in my GPS unit, and the problem doesn't resurface.

Screen is frozen - can't turn off

Look in the compartment underneath the flip-up antenna for a little plastic button that says "reset." Press it. If you're lucky, it will recover and bounce back to normal.

How do I adjust screen brightness for night use?

The Power/Light is used to turn your GPS on and off as well as to adjust the background and back light. To adjust the back light press the power/light key to access the light and background menu. Use the 4 way cursor key to select light or background. Then use the left to right cursors to change the settings. Then press exit to exit the light/background menu. This should answer your question.

I want to know where the red, yellow, blue, green,,white, and black wires go?

red and black are power and ground, blue and white are gps output signal connect those to 9 pin connector pins 2 and 5 and get a 9 pin(serial) cable to usb adapter for input to a laptop, charting or mapping program and you are good to go. just make sure if you are using xp to wait until the mapping program is running and searching for gps signal before you connect the serial or usb because windows thinks the signal is from a mouse and the cursor will turn into a raging crackhead jumping all over the screen and randomly clicking on whatever it touches.

I know the GPS coordinates of a place, I want to be. How do I enter those to start finding a route from where I am?

I am assuming this is a Quest or Quest2 GPS.
Using the map screen use the larger 4way "navigation" button on the front panel and cursor the screen pointer to the location you would like to save. You may need to zoom in on the location. At the bottom of the screen you will see the "lat/long" displayed. The further you "zoom in" the more precise you can get with the "lat/long". Once you have the pointer at your desired coordinates, hit the "OK" button. This will bring up an address or some other feature name. If there are multiple choices, simply pick the one that is most appropriate and again his "OK". At the bottom of the screen you will see 3 "buttons" (save, find near, and route to). Select "save". Now you will see a screen with several windows that contain the lat/long data, perhaps an address, a map icon, and the name you selected in the earlier screen. You can again use the large 4 way "navigation" button on the front panel to switch between the displayed fields. This will allow you to select a map icon such as a house, store, marina, or whatever. You can then use the "nav" button to select the lat/long window and make any final adjustments to the lat/long data. You can also move the cursor up to the waypoint name box and change it to whatever you prefer. Once you have all of the data fields to your preference on this page, you can use the "nav" button to cursor down to "OK" at eh bottom of the screen and then hit the "OK" button on the front panel. The waypoint should be stored with the correct data in the GPS.

On my Garmin 660 in the tools menu there is a section for calibration of the screen. Yours should have a similar screen. Look for it in the tools section.
