What is the planet mercury's gases

In horoscopes the planets move through the Zodiac. However due to the fact that some planets have different orbits, that in the sky they appear to move backwards. Which is what astrologies call retrograde motion. Of course the planet doesn't go backwards at all. However when calculating the birth chart or doing any astrological chart, any planet going backwards is noted. Astrologers attach great significance to a planet going backwards. Though not all do. For example as Mercury controls communication, it going backwards might interfere with that.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. Its orbit around the Sun is very elliptical, like a stretched out circle, compared to those of the other planets. Mercury's distance from the Sun ranges from 28.6 million miles (46 million km) to 43.4 million miles (69.8 million km)

Well, not mercury. As far as we can tell it is made of rock like our Earth, but with a high metals content, about 70%.

Mercury, shown at left in a Mariner 10 image, is the closest planet to the Sun - it orbits at an average distance of 57,910,000 km, or 0.38 AU from Sun. Mercury has been known since at least the time of the Sumerians (3rd millennium BC). Although the Greeks had two names for it, Apollo for its apparition as a morning star and Hermes as an evening star, they knew that the two names referred to the same object. We know this planet as Mercury - the name of the Roman counterpart to Hermes.

Mercury is made out of a large percentage of heavier elements, mainly iron. It is essentially a large metal ball of iron with a very thin silicate crust. Mercury's core makes up about 75% of the planet. Its thin mantle, or crust, is only about 300 to 400 miles thick (500 to 600 km).
