Ink indicator lights

It's mean "ink out". Not actually "inK", but ink level counter reached zero. If using original ink tank, just replace with new one. If using "hardware resetter", reset ink level counter. If using CIS ink tank, it will be auto reset.
Remember, it's program not actual ink. So, if you reset it, ink level will show full, even if you didn't refill ink tank.

Xerox phaser 8500 error code 09, 038, 46:4597

Ink count sensor flags are stuck after melting 2.5 ink sticks. The following codes are recorded: 9,03x.41, where x= 5 for cyan, 6 for magenta, 7 for yellow, and 8 for black. (Your error indicates black ink loader failure)

Features on the bottom of genuine Xerox ink sticks actuate the Ink Out Sensor located at the forward end of each ink channel of the Ink Loader. The sensor indicates the passage of ink to provide a count of ink consumption.

Damaged or non-genuine ink sticks may not reliably actuate the sensors. This can lead to false Ink Out messages as well as Ink Stick count faults. Using 8400 model ink in a 8500/8550/8560 models will also cause 9,03x.4x ink stick count faults.
Ink Loader will need replaced and then diagnostics entered to run "Clear ISC Fault" test to clear the error.

How do I check my ink levels

Method one: Check the ink levels from the idle screen on the color graphics display Look for four icons at the bottom of the color graphics display. The icons represent the ink level remaining in each of the four color ink cartridges: black, yellow, light cyan (blue), and light magenta (pink). A larger and more accurate view of the ink levels can be displayed from the Setup menu. If an ink cartridge containing non-HP ink is being used, a question mark displays instead of the ink drop in the icon for that cartridge. The HP All-in-One cannot detect the amount of ink remaining in ink cartridges that contain non-HP ink. Figure 1: Non-HP ink iconc00841629.jpg NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. Printer service or repairs required as a result of printer failure or damage attributable to the use of non-HP ink will not be covered under warranty. If a hollow ink drop icon displays, the ink cartridge represented by that color icon has very little ink remaining and will need to be changed soon. You might be able to continue printing for a short period of time with ink remaining in the print head assembly. Replace the ink cartridge when the Replace Soon warning message displays on the color graphics display. Figure 2: Low ink level iconc00841630.jpg When the Empty Ink message appears on the color graphics display, the indicated ink cartridge is out of ink. Replace the indicated ink cartridge. Method two: Check ink levels from the Windows computer The estimated amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridges can be checked from the computer. See the on-screen HP Director Help for information on checking the ink levels from the Printer
  1. Open the printer Toolbox. To do so, do one of the following:
    • Open HP Solution Center, click the Settings menu, then point to Print Settings , then click Printer Toolbox .
    • Right-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor in the tray, then point to your printer model name, and click Display Printer Toolbox .
    The Toolbox opens.
  2. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink level gauges display.
Method three: Check ink levels from the Setup menu
  1. Press Setup on the printer control panel.
  2. Scroll down and select Display Ink Gauge . The Ink Gauge status from the Tools menu will only display on the color graphics display.

I just put in a new black ink cartridge and it will not print black ink. The color ink prints, but the black will not.

Hello nicfurtaw, there are dried ink on the ink carousel, or cradle, you may need to soften the ink. Use cotton buds, dip into warm water and gently wipe the ink hole where the ink pass through, until the carousel is clean.
  1. remove the black ink cartridge
  2. find the spot where the ink pass through
  3. see dried ink on it.
  4. use cotton buds dipped in warm water to soften the ink.
  5. do this several times
  6. clean enough, test to see if the black ink will pass through
  7. replace the black ink cartridge
  8. test the printer.

Canon multifunction printer

I believe that he is reffering to the waste ink tank where the cartriges stop to the right when not being used. There are two small foam pads over there.
I cleaned mine by opening lid and have carriage run to the left, then I reach in with a q-tip and press down repeatly until q-tips are almost clean. You will need a flashlight to see waht you are doing.

Error: 09,035.43:27650

You have a Cyan ( blue) ink stick stuck or a broken ink stick in the ink loader.
Check the cyan slot carefully, one of the sticks has not moved properly, The machine is not seeing the ink loader moving indicating a stuck cyan stick, Here is the info.

Ink stick count faults (error code 09,03x.4x) are declared when the printer melts 2.5 ink sticks without tripping the color's ink out flag. The ink out flag is used to physically count ink sticks passing thru the ink loader.

Verify that the ink sticks are Xerox 8500/8550 ink sticks. Manually verify that the ink stick are correctly loaded and are able to advance in the ink loader chute. Check for broken ink sticks which can fool the ink out (ink stick counting) sensor.

The ink stick count fault can only be cleared by powering up the printer in internal diagnostics mode. Then scroll and to the Functional menu item Clear ICS Fault.
