I have a computer with Vista, bought in 2008. My Fuji FinePix camera has transfered pix to my PC several times in the past. However, now the computer no longer recognizes the camera at all (problem is not with camera or PC, because we were able to successfully upload images to a different computer).
When I tried to reinstall drivers, got a weird error message regarding "X_OS_WARNING" string. Any idea what's going on?
It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:
