you need three things to start a car gas /fire /and timing check the timing first then see if you are getting fire to spark plugs then pull your fuel line at motor crank motor see if gas Is present no gas replace fuel pump no fire replace coil if timing has jump replace timing belt
Sounds like a timing chain , worst case, Would you say it's turning over almost too freely?? Look under your cap, and turn motor over, the rotor shouldn't turn if the timing chain is gone, but may turn if it jumped it's timing. Then you'll have to have a look under the timing cover . let me know if this helps
the easy way to check fuel pump(if you can't hear the pump motor) loosen the supply nut going to injecter manifold. there is a relay box on the firewall on driver side jump the 2 corner(closest to the side your on) with a paper clip if you get fuel it's not the pump. if you are getting fuel you might have a timing belt that broke or jumped a tooth. hope this helps.
Is it not starting or do you mean there is no spark jumping at the spark plugs?
Your engine is an interference engine which means if the timing belt breaks you can easily bend the valves.
You most likely have bent valves so do a compression check first. If compression is 0 or low you will have to pull the head and replace the bent valves.
fuel pump is in the tank. first get a spark tester and see if there is spark.if there is ,get fuel spray into the throttle body and see if it starts then dies.that would mean a fuel problem.sometimes banging on the tank gets the pump working again.take the cap off and have a look inside.
