SOURCE: COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS CARD WITH P5GC MX/1333 ASUS

Yes you can put a 1 gb card. The motherboard has PCI Express so you don't have to worry to much. The older AGP cards are almost gone.

You could buy a GeForce 8500, 8600, or 8800, or the 9 series. You can also buy a Radeon HD 5870 or 5570.

SOURCE: COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS CARD WITH P5GC MX/1333 ASUS MOTHERBOARD.

Hello you can read the spec.here:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5GCMX1333/#specifications

Your mainboard uses PCI-E socket this is the new standard for graphic cards.

Your local computerdealer can advice you a good graphic card
but it depends what you have to use it fore.

If you use the pc to seach at the internet a cheap card will be great
but if you use the pc for games you might have to spend 200 dollars.

Good luck

Is a 2gb video card compatible with ASUS P5GC-MX/1333?? Also what is the max ram size the motherboard can take???

The motherboard's max memory supported is 4GB. The 2GB part of the video card is not really what decides if it is compatible or not; it is the interface of the video card. The motherboard in question has slots for PCI Expressx16 and PCI Expressx1.

Mobo Compatibility and tech/spec variations

All Asus P5GC-MX/1333 mobos are "X-series" boards.

If you put higher speed ram on that mobo, it will just run the ram at lower speeds.

The board will not take 1333 speed DDR3, because it is only DDR2 compatible.

OVerclocking is complicated and risky, here is neither the place to teach or learn overclocking.

Some newer core 2 chips will automatically overclock, when all but 1 core is in hibernation (which will never happen if you are using vista). Other than that overclocking involves setting the bios to increase the memory buss speed, as well as slightly increasing the cpu and ram voltages as needed for stability. There is a great risk associated with manually overclocking and adjusting voltages, and should not be attempted by beginners on machines they value.
