Hi I have a Kyocera FS-720 Laser printer that is USB, I can see the print server with a TE100-P1U but it can´t see the printer, said printer offline. I check the data cable, I conected the printer direct to te computer and work fine, please help me amuggia@gmail.com
-   I have the same problem with hp lj 1018. No luck so far. The print server sees the printer as offline. It does recognise the correct model but that's all it does and not a bit more.
After speaking with HP i've got an answer. Print servers won't work with ACL printers or, for that reason, with any printer that is host-based. They only work for PDL printers.
So there are for sure many more printers (besides my 1018) that will prove impossible to set-up with a print-server.
It's just a matter of opening your eyes a bit more when you buy a printer or a print server. I didn't so now i'm stuck with a print server that I have no use for. Perhaps when I'll change the printer I will put it to better use. Untill then I'll have to do with the usual os printer sharing and keep the computer that hosts the printer open for others to print.
Cheers. -   Guest

I would suggest you one option if the operating system is windows. You have to go to Start -->Control Panel --> Printers and Faxes . Then you will see your printer icon there. RIght click on that. Check whether you are having an option "Use printer Online" or "Set printer Online". If you have that option , just click on that and apply the settings and see what happens - Thank you

update the firmware from trendnet
then download the pcl only driver from hp (or whatever printer you have)
then add the printer manually.
the big cd full of junk from hp won't let you install a plain network driver.

The utilities that came with the print server install OK, but get an error when attempting to connect to the print server. Same issue - driver loads & finds print server (TE100-P1U) fine, sets IP address (& I can ping p/s ok) but Add Printer in Vista reports
"Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure that you have typed the name correctly, and that the printer is connected to the network."
then returns to the Add Printer window, listing U1 on PS-xxxxxx \\ps-xxxxxx\U1 as (only) network printer to select.
Running Vista Home Premium sp1.
The PC I'm doing the setup from is connected wireless to a Linksys wireless router; printer is hard-wired to 100Bt port on this router.
Ideas?
