SOURCE: shuts off

Stupid question time! Have you tried resetting the unit?

  1. Disconnect it from external power.
  2. Flip up the GPS antenna.
  3. Press the "Reset" button on the back.
  4. Connect the unit back to external power. The unit should reboot.
I also just read a review on epinions.com about this GPS that says many people have noticed their battery stops accepting a charge after about.....drumroll.....15 months! It's possible your battery has died, and being non-user-replaceable, you'd have to send it to Garmin for them to replacement (about $80).

Keeps shutting down - even when I charge via computer. Within a few minutes the device shuts down. Same using car charger? Can you help?

Honestly you need to contact Garmin you definitely have a internal problem. It sound like have a component breaking down internally. Garmin will charge you to look at it if you are out of warranty with them, it might be worth it to have them tell you what component is breaking down. Their website is www.Garmin.com I would suggest you contact their tech department. Its not something that can be fixed with out the correct diagnostic equipment to pinpoint your problem. They have diagnostic software Im sure that will tell you what is wrong internally with your GPS. I have dealt with them in the past too and they are easy to work with and very helpful.

I hope this helps you out, if so leave me some feedback.

I have a Garmin 200 W nuvi gps. I received it a little over a year ago. I was able to just plug it into my car and it would always work. Now after only 2+ hours it shuts down on me. I plugged it into...

Hi
if your GPS wasn't in use for long time, the battery could have lost it's charge completlly and in that
case the battery is irreversible damage and won't keep the charge as it used to.
When this happens, the charging circuit inside the GPS sensing the condition of the battery and shuts the unit down to prottect it from damage.(fire/explosion)
Hope am wrong, but in the case if I am not, you need to replace the battery (if it's internaly hard wired) by somone who is competent to do so, or get a new GPS and don't let the battery to go flat.

Unit shuts down while navigating with power cord plugged inalso seems to have dead pixels in screen

Dead pixels you can't do anything about without replacing the COLOR LCD TOUCH SCREEN. Which will probably cost as much as replacing the whole unit anyway.
As for shutting down while plugged in, that may be one of two things. Either the charging cord has gone bad (and they do go bad), or your not plugged into the lighter/charging port in your vehicle completely. Lastly, the charging cord for a Garmin GPS has a fuse in it, at the head that plugs into the charging port. Check it to see that it's not blown. Chances are it may be.

Unit shuts down after about one minute.

When you leave a Nuvi on a charger for several hours and don't see full green bars, this is an indication that the battery is defective. Most Nuvi batteries last about 2 years. Most of the batteries have a date code of 2007. I would have the battery replaced as soon as possible as it can bloat and crack the case open. More info can be found here:

Shuts off, won't charge battery

Waking up your c330...

If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers

Garmin Nuvi shuts itself off after only seconds during navigation

Is the battery charged? What does the battery indicator say? If you are using it in the car, is the power cord connected and working properly? If it is working correctly, you should see a lightning bolt symbol over the battery bar graph showing that it is connected to an external power source and that it is charging.
