Question about Midland LXT303-A 2-Way Radio

One radio continually transmits

I purchased these LXT303 radios in June or July, due to the fact the Motorola radios I received at Christmas, 2006, already broke.

Now my LXT303 radios are not working.  When you use one of the radios to transmit, it sticks and remains in the tranmit mode.  The other radio shows the "RX" continually on the screen and will not allow you to transmit back.  These radios are less than 6 months old.    I'm hoping it is something I can fix myself.

Switch radio off ,remove battery for +- 5 min. replace and try agian .if problem exist ensure that u can hear the ptt micro switch cliking  when u depress it ,if not the ptt switch coud be faulty or sticky .also measure the battery voltage 'some radios go into tx mode when the battery voltage drops to a certain level .does the radio still transmit when it is charging?

My radio (new) receives but will not transmit, should I return it?

That depends on you. Are you happy that you received a device that isn't fully functional?

Doesn't transmit

Check your battery. Transmitting takes more energy than receiving. Also, check your frequency and code settings. The radio you are using this one with might have a different code setting than yours.

My motorola RDU2020 radio receives but does not transmit calls

1) You possibly have a bad or nearly dead battery. Transmit takes more energy than receiving. With this in mind, your radio's transmit will fail, if you have a poorly charged or bad battery, when pressing the PTT. Try a battery from a known good radio to see if it eliminates the problem. If so, replace your battery.

2) The radio is either programmed incorrectly or in need of repair. If you have been experimenting with the programmable features, we suggest you walk back through the steps of programming. Here is a link to the user guide: Programming instructions begin on page 36.

3) If in need of repair. Radios less than one year old should be under warranty, barring any physical or water damage to the unit. Contact the place of purchase or Motorola for warranty instructions.
If the radio is more than one year old you can get it repaired at any dealer offering Motorola repair. (approx. $85 flat rate)

Best regards.

I want to communicate from t5720 talkabout to midland lxt303. When I set them to the same channel the talkabot gets out but will not receive unless I press the MON button on the face of the radio

Set your interference eliminator code on the T5720 and the Qt filter both to zero. You have one or both turned on. By setting them to zero you will turn them off. Then your radios should work together.

Motorola T5420 Transmit Problem

Here are some troubleshooting thoughts:

1. Is your battery indicator showing at least 2-3 bars? (Battery Note: Your rechargeable batteries may fail due to setting without use for a long period of time. They need replaced every 12-14 months usually. A good tip is to charge them once a month to keep the chemical in the battery active.)

2. Check to see your Qt noise filter is shut off. Refer to page 22 of the owners manual. It is possible you have some radios set to Y and others to N. To assure good communications you should set all of them to N.

3. With your radios set to interference code zero, place your radios one at a time in scan mode, while you transmit/talk on one individual radio. See if any of the radios receive. Do this with each radio individually to see if you are transmitting at all. NOTE: This test will determine if you have any ability to transmit. If you do not receive any sound on the 3 radios setting in scan mode, the individual radio you are testing will not transmit.

Problem transmitting

Hello jayhawkrx,

Check the Continuous Tone Coded Squelch (CTCSS) settings on all the radios. (Note that some manufacturers refer to this feature as a Privacy Code or Quiet Code. The actual name of the feature may vary.) This feature encodes a low-frequency signal on your radio transmission. This signal is below the range of human hearing but can be detected by other radios. When the CTCSS feature is active your radio will ignore any signal that it receives that does not have the proper tone encoded on it.

In order for these radios to communicate, all of the radios need to be on the same channel and have the same CTCSS code programmed or the CTCSS feature must be disabled.

I suspect that CTCSS is activated on one of your radios but not on the other. This would result in the situation you describe.

Also take note that when using different brands / models of radios to communicate with one another that the CTCSS code numbering scheme may not necessarily be the same from radio to radio. For instance, CTCSS code 4 on the Motorola TalkAbout series actually corresponds to code A on the Motorola Sport models.

Best Regards,

Agent Ken

Staying keyed up after button release

I have never seen this problem before, check if the VOX is activated, this could cause to transmit the radio, but the voice must be transmited. check if the Accesory connector is not dirty, clogged or damaged
