I have the same problem with my LC-30HV4U. The screen will turn on and the light stays green but the ACV unit will turn on only for a second - the light flashes green but instantly goes back to red. Sharp did not have a solution. ?? Unplugging and resetting does not correct the problem.

Grrr...mark me as another with this problem. AVC light is red (so it's in standby mode), TV power light is green, but it just shows a blue screen and nothing else.

It WOULD have to happen today - there's a blizzard going on right now in Cincinnati and I'd love to be able to watch a movie...

I have the exact same problem. Previously the TV would randomly turn off, and then become more frequent until the unit wouldn't turn on at all. I got the power unit replaced (big $$) and it was working for a couple months. Now I am getting the same problem as you guys with the blue screen and red light on the AVC. Very frustrating. I used to really like SHARP but most likely my replacement TV will not be SHARP.

This is just the beginning, it will happen more often and at some point in time you will have the same problem some of us are having, it will click the monitor power light will lite up green and the ACV box light will come on green for a second and then go red again and the lcd screen will go blue. Unit will not power up. I have this problem and it has started the same way, I did the same thing and nursed it for about 6-8 months now no matter what I do it wont come on, I have tried no power for a day, cleaning, banging acv around tapping, slapping cursing and still nothing. So if you ever find this problem I would love to know what the fix is and who can perform it, I live on disability now and cannot afford just to let somebody charge me out the wazoo and say they cannot find the problem or tell me something like it needs a whole new ACV just because they don't know what to do. If I learn anything I will let you know also.

THe problem is in the set top box. Or common called the tuner box. IT looses the 5 volts to the main display and thus the monitor will go into a shut down state. THESE boxes are factory repair only and must be sent off to repair.

Hi, I bought an aquos lc-30hv4u and it has no rca jack etc, only two plug ins labled display input 1 and 2. I am guessing its just a pc monitor. How would I use it for cable tv video games etc

There are lots of inputs on the back behind the cover. Three inputs (1, 2, 3) have an S-video, composite video (A/V) and component video jacks. The cover will come off if you press the two top hook at the top of the cover. Then rotate the cover towards you. There are also a DVI-D port and 2 coax (antenna in) jack. The tuners included are for NTSC (analog OTA) and CATV (analog cable). The front of the PC (VGA) and a S-video or composite (A/V) video input (called Input 4).

Composite and component video jacks are all RCA jacks (as are the associated audio jacks for the input). Composite cables uses three RCA plugs on each end - yellow for video, red and white for Right and Left audio. Component video cables have three plugs on each end that just carry video (red, blue and green); the audio is wired separately with just 2 RCA red/white plugs. Match your colors from the device out to the TV input.

Changing inputs can be done with the remote or the input button on the top of the TV. The input button is to the left of the power and Main Power buttons.

Connecting your game system, cable system and all will depend on the units. For the best picture, use component video cables for mose set top box. Some cable boxes have a DVI port - use that if the box has that option. If they do not have component video out, then use composite or S-video cables.

The owner's manual is available from Sharp as a pdf: http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx?downloadtype=ownersmanual . Use the drop down menus as follows > LCD TV, Model not listed, LC-30HV4U then click Search. The picture of the inputs are on page 10.

I hope this helps.

The screen and the module both are showing red lights . The screen will not show a picture and I have tried to reset. Any options?

Press the VOL+ and Channel - button on the set and than the power button while holding the two buttons.
If the set starts then the fault is the error counter wich must be reset to 0. Max is 5 faults,if a sixth error is measured the set stops.
