i have an HP Expresscard for my laptop and wish to hook up my vcr to the tuner in order to be able to record home videos to my hard drive then further to a dvd. I hooked it all up correctly (I hope) and the tuner card only wants to try and recognize a television connection such as cable or antenna, Can I get the tuner card to recognize the vcr?
You need to connect the ariel to the vcr, then the vcr to the card, using a male/female fly lead. Then I suggest putting an origional film tape into the vcr, press play on the vcr and then scan in the channels on the card. It should pick up the vcr's output of the film that is playing.

I have been using my hp expresscard for a year and a half. Last week my computer was not able to detect the tv tuner card. i attempted to reinstall the software to no avail, checked all my settings, which I hadn't changed, and even set up my tv in windows media center. I don't understand what changed. After looking for support on the HP website, this product does not even exist so there is not any support. Does anyone have answers?
