SOURCE: Hello, I have Sata HDD it
Have you gone into your computers BIOS settings to make sure that your HDD is configured and that it is recognized? My room mate has a computer that just "looses" it's HDD in the BIOS and forgets that it existed. To get into your BIOS, more than likely you'll hold down the "delete" key or the f12 or f10 keys when you power up the computer and it'll ask you if you want the additional settings options, or it'll just pop into your BIOS. You'll look through it (Be careful!) and on the 2nd screen most likely you'll see options to set a boot order. You'll want to make sure that your HDD is listed in here or else the computer is not looking for it to boot from. You'll probably want to have your floppy first, and CD 2nd, and leave your HDD for 3rd for booting options. Depending which version of Vista you're installing, it may not support RAID. Microsoft only saves that for it higher end/priced OS's that the corp's are willing to pay for so they feel like they're getting their money's worth.

Hello Sir, hi, try removing all usb devices on your Aspire, and then boot again, if the problem still persist, go to bios setup and look and see if the hard drive is present, if yes you need to setup windows again. The ASPIRE one later models now comes with a 120 GB hard drive but has an SD card/Flash module for a hard drive as well.

If this is before windows starts up. This could be your hard Drive. You will need to Follow these steps to find out.
First off Try to repair your windows. Somehow a virus may have deleted something windows needs to run. throw in the CD At selection menu after it loads Click repair and go from there and follow on screen instructions.
If that does not work Try the next steps
Try reinstalling your windows Operating system.
IF you want to back up files you should still be able to get them by hooking the hard drive up to a desktop computer or have a pro do it for you.
If your windows does not install after the second attempt to install windows or takes up to 10-30 minutes to load the windows selection then your hard drive is bad and you need a new one. This Problem is very common.

Re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.
SOURCE: I get the following error message:
You computer is trying to boot from somewhere other than your hard drive.
Turn the computer off and when you turn it on, watch the screen for
which key it says to hit to Change the Boot Order or Boot Sequence. Hit
that key when you see the message or it will not work and you will have
to reboot and try it again. Select the Hard Drive as your bood device
and let it boot up. This is a temporary change only good for this boot
cycle. You need to make a permanent change to the boot order.
To make a permanent change to the boot order or sequence, turn the
computer off and watch the screen for which key it says to hit to get
into the BIOS or System Setup. Hit that key when you see the message or
you will have to restart and try again. Once you get into the BIOS or
System Setup tab over to change the boot order or boot sequence.
Normally the best sequence is to have the DvD/CD drive 1st and the Hard
Drive 2nd. Just make sure when you boot the computer that you don't
have a music cd or movie dvd in the drive or you will get an error
message if it tries to boot from it. You want this sequence just incase
you have problems with your hard drive, then you can put a repair disc
or system disc in the dvd/cd drive and it will boot from it so you can
try to fix the problem.
