Question about RCA F36705 36" TV

1 Answer

High Pitched Ticking Noise

I have a F36705 RCA tv that makes a high pitched ticking noise in the back.  The TV won't turn on at all.  The ticking noise decreases in frequency once unplugged, then goes away completely.

The service number is F36705YX1.  Will I have to do any soldering to replace?

  • Todd Williams Nov 09, 2007

I replaced the two parts and the TV worked good for 1 week. Now it is doing the same thing. Did I buy faulty parts? I got them from a place called MCM Electronics.

  • Todd Williams Nov 10, 2007

So can I get away with just replacing the transistor this time or do I need to do both?

  • Todd Williams Nov 10, 2007

Where is the best place to get this, they all claim to be OEM sellers?

Both parts soldered in  Part #'s 241319 or ASTI 2170 xformer

          and 237470 transistor ........T.

  • Vista Electronics Nov 10, 2007

Might be some bad solder connects in horiz driver circuit....

More likely, you used a generic sub for the 237470 RCA

transistor = generics are seconds = they run hot, only last for

a few hours = you must use OEM or equiv.............T.

    Please rate solved! Thanks......

  • Vista Electronics Nov 10, 2007

Just the transistor 2SC5148 FIRST quality only with

    237470 being least expensive.........................T.

  • Vista Electronics Nov 12, 2007

    Andrews Electronics = 1-661-257-7700 or www.............T.

237470 must be the part # ( RCA ) that you pay for to be the real deal ! Or Sony or Hitachi or any Mfr. that offers to

sell a 2SC5148 ..........if it is the generic number on

the part only ( no Mfr.# ), then it is a second or worse

as to quality................This comment applies to

    horizontal output transistors in general.......................T.

High pitched whine/sometimes TV won't turn on

The power supply on this model will whine when it is shorted or overloaded - the set would have to be brought in to determine exact cause.

When my rca 36F530 tv is plugged in it makes a high pitched buzzing noise picture does not come on

There is a short circuit in the high voltage circuit. the transformer who helps to create the high voltage or his power transistor is damage. replacement needed. the repair is not expensive, because the parts are average repair. Ask for an estimate.

Trouble turning on tv. High pitched noise/click.

The mainboard might have some loose components, or cold solder , or may be the filter capacitors are becoming faulty. Yes it is worth repairing, bring it to the repair shop. Cheers.

High Pitched Noise on TV

Sep 16, 2007 | Televison & Video

TV won't stay turned on, no picture, started making high pitched noise

That high pitched noise you're hearing is the power supply telling you that it has too much of a load on it and lowered its operating frequency which in effect cuts its output way down! Normally you don't hear any thing since the power supply operates at a frequency that's beyond human hearing. In an RCA this indicates more than likely that your horizontal output transistor is shorted and this short was caused by the flyback transformer shorting. This is a common happening with RCA's You'd need to take to a tv shop and have it checked out. Stargazer
