First Method
1) Switch off your phone
2) Press and hold these 3 keys together:
-green dial key
-the star key(*)
-the number 3 key
3) Turn the phone on
Do not release the keys until you see a formatting screen and even after the phone has started. Wait until the initial sound starts to play and the hand animation is displayed.
Backup your contacts list and personal files present in your MMC memory card to your system (if possible).

Second Method

on the screen of your mobile type *#7370#

you will be prompted for a Security Code.
This is 12345 by default if you haven't changed it.

Please ensure that you have backed up your data first onto a PC by using pc suite, or onto a memory card.

Soft Reset

The reset will restore all the phone's settings to factory default.
*#7370#

Hard Reset

Please make backup before applying this type of reset, since it will restore the phone's settings as well as erasing all the data in the phone memory.

1. Switch off the phone.
2. Press CALL/Send button + * button + 3 button and then ON simultaneously until the phone is completely started.

note: The default password is 12345. You need to press and hold the key until the number appear.

Soft Format for Nokia Symbian Series 60 Phones:
The soft-format code for Series 60 phones is *#7370# . You enter this code as you would enter a phone number in the Phone application. It performs a format of the Internal drive - All data will be lost if you use this feature and your set will be like a fresh phone.

The method of performing a hard-format, i.e resetting it completely to factory defaults and removing all data, is as follows:

note: before u do this make sure u dont have mmc cuz if you have the virus will b tranzfer at ur mmc or memmory card!!!

before performing that please back up and scan your memory card for viruses and try to use once your mobile without your mmc you can come to know chances of virus

best thing is to format your phone and memory card.....press *#7370# or *#7780# and give code 12345 or any it will restore. for formatting memory card go to memory card dont open it click on options and use format memory card option(as there is problem of data loss scan first your memory card if no virus is there dont format)

Do hard format to your phone, how to hard format code, type * # 7370 #. enter access code, std code by nokia is 12345. wait until you restart the phone. Now what to do, you should copy all the data you copy into memory before your PC, including contact forlder. Format memory card using your PC, re-enter data previously copied to the memory card with the folder. Put the memory card trsebut to your phone, copy all the contact number in the memory card to phone memory. Your phone is now fully functional. You just need to re-enter other applications such as games and other applications.

Your Phone does not have any kind of mobile virus (only PC virus are able to store themselves in 6233's phone/card storage).. So either format ur memory card and phone memory (by dialling *#7370# on main screen) or scan ur phone's/card's Memory (in "Mass Storage" Mode) via any PC anti-virus Scanner..
