Re: E 61:00

Tapping on the camera didn't work for me, the lens just tried to move and would stop. Kind of like a tooth was missing on a gear. I pushed the lens assembly in with power on, turned the camera off and back on, IT WORKED!

Re: E 61:00

I solved the problem by using two fingers to tap on the top, sides and bottom of the lens. When I turned the camera off and on, the problem was corrected.

It took a couple of trys and each time I increased the pressure of my tapping.

Lens of camera is not moving

It could be the motor or a gear is defect. It could be there is not enough power in the battery. Can have many causes. After recharging the battery, switch it on and feel if you can help the lens a little. Never use any force, but a little pul or push could make the difference. If not, you have to fear the camera is defect and you should start saving for a new one.

My Cyber Shot DSC W55 when i open it the lens keeps moving forward and backward and then something shows on the screen which says First "ACCESS" then the next one is "Turn The power off and...

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN or Access is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

I have the first edition ixus series, its still works but the the lens doesn't retrieve back when turned off. what seems to hold it off, pls help. tnx. dennis

There is a small actuator motor that moves the lens forward and backwards. There seems to be something that is preventing the backward motion. This could be a lot of reasons why this is happening. Like all cameras it is to your advantage to have it clean on a yearly basis. You could see if your camera can have a service agreement to handle yearly clean or any major problems. Having said that it might just be cheaper to purchase a new camera and add the service agreement to it. Good Luck.7

Reading lens error on nikoncoolpix l12

Hitting camera on desk once has partial fix.
When camera's batteries taken out & then put back in and the power on button pressed to switch camera on, the lens extends out & the camera now works.
BUT when the power button pressed to switch camera off the lens retracts AND a "Lens Error" msg appears on the LCD screen.
Just have to take batteries out to remove msg & start again as above but WITHOUT hitting the camera.
