I own a fuji finepix f30 and it was knocked off a table. It landed on the top right-hand corner and as a result there is a slight dent. It seems as if the dent has knocked the shutter botton out of place so that it does not function. I can look at pictures i have taken before-the screen still works etc etc but the shutter button does not so i am a stuck with a completly useless camera!!!
I need to get the camera fixed asap- do you think this is a difficult thing to fix? Is it advisable to send it back to fuji or do you think i can get it repaired quickly in a local repair shop? If so, can you reccomend any good repair shops in central london?

I cannot find the solution you provide for Sozzy, and think mine may be the same solution. How do I access your solution?
Our Fuji finepix f 31fd camera was actually dropped in the Dordogne (briefly)in its case, which offered a little protecton. My daughter tried it out immediately and it took a perfect picture, but a few minutes later it's lens steamed up as we expected, and the shutter simply wouldn't press. Amazingly it has all dried out perfectly, and all the options seem to work apart from the shutter button and it says there is "no image". A hand /stop symbol has sometimes appeared on the screen. Everything else works perfectly. Can we fix it?

Wow the cable was not visibly loose but after nearly two months (most of it being sad my camera was dead and the rest of it waiting for the special screwdriver) I pushed the cable even though it seemed fine and PRESTO the camera works!! THANK YOU FIXYA!!!

I had the same problem, one day the shutter wouldn't work. I followed the instructions below but was slightly confused that there wasn't a ribbon cable coming directly from the shutter to the main board. The ribbon for the shutter looks like it comes down from the setting wheel (where you choose the manual/ auto settings etc). It is the most right hand ribon. But once found followed the instructions below and pushed it in further and hey presto fixed!!!
So happy I don't have to send it away!

My daughter dropped our f30 from our 2nd story loft onto our hardwood main floor and it would not turn on. When I opened it up, I thought all was lost, but like solution #3, which I read here, I found that the upper right ribbon cable had come loose, although I missed this at first glance. After reconnecting it, the camera works fine. Thanks for the help

opened the case and there are two ribbon cables that connect the buttons on the top to the circuit board. The right cable was not all the way in on the right side. Pushed it back in and now the camera works.
Thanks FixYa!

The half-press of the shutter didn't work anymore.
I bought a triwing / triblade screwdriver (about 5 euros) to open the case.
The flatcable running from the knobs on top of the F30 to the main print was a bit loose. After reconnecting it, the shutter button was fully functional again.
It seems that from the backside the rightmost 3 three wires in the flatcable are for the shutter, so if your cable is also a bit loose, this might solve the problem.

2. It is best you send it to an "authorized" Fuji repair shop.
3. I don't know of any local shops.
4. Here is their customer service link:
