How do I attached mattress spring to crib base

The crib is probably 10-15 yrs. old the mattress spring has four moveable flat arms on each corner that slide (not hook) into the slots on the crib frame but I can't figure out how they are suppose to stay in the slots. There is a hole at the end of the flat arm. There were no extra screws left after I put the crib together. This is a used crib bought on craig list.

how do I attached mattress spring to crib base - 804a227.jpg
The above picture is how our Jardine Enterprises crib attaches the mattress support to the frame. I am thinking you need the bolts to make your crib work. And that might be a chore unless you are very handy with hardware. Also, being a new parent ourselves, I would recommend against anything but the safest crib for your child. Call the original owner--see if they can find the bolts/hardware, if not get a complete unit if you can afford it, it may cost more in the short run, but may save a serious injury or worse. Also, if you go the used route see if it has been recalled, you can start here:

How to lower crib mattress on a Pali

The Pali cribs often used a "scissor assembly" spring frame. This means that there are "Y" shaped arms located on each corner. There are holes in the side of the spring frame, you will need to unscrew the bolt and nut and attach them at a different hole to adjust the height.
This is a rather difficult topic to cover in writing. If you would like to see a diagram of how this functions, please email us at [email protected].

I need to lower the base to its lowest setting but not sure how ?

Remove the mattress. in all for corners you should see metal arms that are attached to the mattress support. these arms will be screwed into brackets on the crib. Unscrew all four screws and re-screw them into the lowest hole available. replace mattress and your done.

Have a Lullabye Crib - 28 yrs old, no instructions for reassembly

I have directions for the Lullabye Princeton Crib, Model 311146
that I purchased in 1993. It sounds like the same type of hardware
that allows the front rail (only) to move up and down, with springs
at the bottom to cushion the drop. If you think this might help you
and you want me to post these directions, just let me know.

Kinderkraft crib

You just take the drop down side off and put the mattress at the lowest setting. We have the same crib and used it for a few months as a toddler bed.

Childesigns carrollton crib

I am not familiar with this crib, but I have been through many cribs and they all (so far) are adjustable to lower the mattress. You can figure it out by removing the mattress and matress board and inspecting the way the board is connected to the frame. Often there is a bar or rung that sits in a clip or groove at each corner of the crib just below the matress board. You may have to crawl underneath and look up at it. Usually you will be able to lower the platform without using tools, but be sure to take the weight off the platform by removing the mattress and board. Good luck.
