I have never had problems before, but my remote won't turn on my tv and tv doesn't seem to have a manual power button. I changed batteries in my remote and it still didn't fix the problem.

One question is whether you're getting any LEDs or such coming on when you plug in the TV. If not, then you may just not have any power.
  1. Plug something else into the outlet to see if the outlet has power.
  2. If it's a GFI plug, try resetting the power button.
  3. Make sure the breaker for the outlet isn't tripped
If power and all is fine, move up the line. Is the TV plugged into a surge strip? (If no, please consider this as good cheap insurance) Is the surge strip turned on? Has the surge breaker been tripped?
A lot of flat panel TVs will have innocuous buttons along one of the vertical sides. (Unlike older TVs that tended to put the buttons under the picture area). Double check there for manual controls.

If none of this, then on to the remote.
  1. Even if the batteries are new, check them in something else to make sure they're good.
  2. Check the battery contacts for corrosion, dust bunnies, spilled sippy cup juice from the kids, what have you. Clean up as needed.
  3. See if any LEDs or such light up on the remote when buttons are pressed. That's a good sign for power.
  4. Make sure that the Infrared port isn't blocked or obscured. Overt things like pieces of duct tape meant to hold the battery door on, more of that peanut butter from the kids sandwich.... One extra trick here - video cameras can often see the near IR light from remotes. Try looking at the IR sensor through a camera with a digital field display and see if you see it flashing when a botton is pushed. that can help you tell if the remote is transmitting at all.
  5. Finally, check for if one of the remote buttons is jammed, either mashed down too far and stuck under neighboring plastic, or glued down with more food debris or what have you. If a button is stuck, your pressing down the power button won't be effective because something else is already pressed. Press each button to see if it clicks like is should, adjust/clean as necessary.
Hoping this helps!
Good Luck

Vizio damaged screen

From what I have heard the screen is likely to be ruined and need replacing.
Replacement screens are available but throwing the tv away and buying new seems to be the popular option.

It is probably time to contact your household insurer...

The remote won't work

Is its a Sharp Remote? or a Generic
A) Check Batteries
B) If a sharp aquos remote there is a function button on the right top side - insure that TV is selected. TV led will light
C) On left side there is a red TV power button press and insure the red led on the remote lights.
D) IF Tv does not turn on then you may have a problem with
the sensor inside the tv.
Only real way of verifying it is not The Remote sensor is by trying another remote. If you have a Cable or Universal follow the instructions for a Sharp TV and try that. If it works problem is with the Sharp Remote if it doesnt its your remote sensor inside the tv.
Hope this helps.

hold setup until light blinks> release setup button and push t.v > from there use the channel up and down buttons to search for code > as soon as the channel changes hold down the mute button for a couple seconds and thats it. try to power on and off your tv

I had the TV upside down for about 5 minutes to take the stand off of it. I put brackets on to mount on my wall. I put the TV on the wall then plugged the TV in. There was a sound and then a puff of...

Whoops, did you not use the right length screws.

The mounting bracket screws will short onto some electronics if you fit screws that are too long and from your superb description, it sounds like you did everything right but do not mention what screws you used.

Smoke coming from a TV is always a sign that something has burned out and unfortunately it is never a fuse. The TV will need fixing, there is no chance of it still working after it has smoked.

If you are lucky, it will just require a power board but you need a TV engineer to look at it as it is not something that you can usually do yourself. Even if you bought a new power board and installed it, there is no guarantee that the main board/processor board or inverter has not blown as well and this is why I recommend a professional looks at it.

Unless your house insurance covers the damage (if the excess is not too high).

Samsung LN-S4692D - Vertical lines (>15) & static on screen

this sounds like a scan board gone ,, if you check ebay youll see two things,
1, other tvs for sale with the same fault (It might give you a clue to the fault ie , which board )
2, the same tv as yours with a broken screen ,

i dont know how good you are with taking things to bits but i personally would buy the tv with the broken screen and start swapping over the internal boards ?

Have you checked your home insurance policy for broken tv,s
it may have fell of its stand when you were'nt looking?

Panasonic PT-51HX43G no picture

You have a loss of horizontal deflection. It is a possibility that you have burned that line down one or more of the CRT's. The repair wil take the help of an expert since the horizontal section puts out signals of 1200 volts or more.
