If you're running a old system, Flash Player 9 is not always compatable with your machine, although it covers Windows 98 and upwards. The problem with Flash Player 9 and version 8 is that they require a 400+ mHz processor to be really compatable but a lot of older machines run smaller processors so can't handle the newer versions of Flash. Best solution is to uninstall the new flash player useing the flash uninstaller from Adobe (download) and go download version 7 for unsupported systems.
I only know this as I had a problem on my system for months, and after a lot of research found out my problem was with compatability issues with the newer players with older CPU's. Reverted back to version 7 and all problems have gone.

I'm getting full disc warnings and am looking to reduce the number of applications. Do I need Adobe flash player 10 plug in and Adobe flash player 10 Active x? I also have Adobe AIR

Hi James6000

You need adobe flash player on certain websites...you can always download it again later if you see that you need it.
I have had adobe air installed forever, and have never seen it in use...so I would say dump it too...later installation if needed.
You may want to consider and external hard drive and transfer most all of your files, pictures, games onto it and free up space on your hard drive that way also.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

My new packard Bell Onetwo M D6321 64 bit system will not function with Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X. Im using internet explorer (64 bit) as my browser. Adobe website keeps leading round and round...

The component is named 'ActiveX'.
The version of the Adobe Flash Player was 9-point-something, but now
the current version of the Adobe Flash Player is 10-point-something.

So, use Add/Remove Programs to _remove_ Adobe Flash Player.
Restart your computer.
Access: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
and allow the ActiveX control downloaded from Adobe to be installed.

Can't get Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX.exe to download.

Flash player 9 is actually not the latest version. If you want to install the latest version which is version 10, follow the steps below:

a. Download the most recent Flash Player uninstaller to your desktop from the TechNote below. Please read the instructions in the TechNote before running the uninstaller.
How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
b. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer windows, other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger or other messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player is still in memory.
c. Open the following folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
d. Run Flash Player uninstaller.
e. Check if there are files left in the folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. If there are any files left inside the folder, delete the files.
f. Download and install the latest Flash player at:
Flash Player 10,0,12,36 Active X (for Internet explorer)

Try uninstalling Flash Player by downloading the uninstaller from this page http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
After that just re-install the latest Flash Player (10.0.12.36) from this page.

RE: installing adobe flash player 9

If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, you should see a yellow bar pop up at the top of the web page, below your address bar. You will need to click on this bar and follow the directions to allow ActiveX to install for Adobe's installation to continue.

Adobe Flash Player Download

When you click the yellow bar to allow the active x install/control
the page may not refresh, try hitting F5 or the refresh button. or click back and then click forward
Or just download Firefox for free as it most always works.
visit their main page to get the media downloads for it.

It may just be the website. The latest version of FlashPlayer ususally installs without a hitch (Adobe.com). Do you still have this problem?
