My nintendo ds wont charge and the light wont go red wen its charging i think i need a new battery

Before getting a new battery, make sure your charger isn't the thing that's broken. To do this, borrow a charger that works good from a friend and try charging your DS. If it doesn't work, than get a new battery.

It wont turn no matter how long i charge it

does the orange light flash of a few seconds after you plug it in? If it does, I think that it is a battery problem. After a lot of charges, the battery's capacity decreases. If the orange light just flashes, I would try a new battery for ds lite battery or for a ds battery (both $8)

Nintendo DS Adapter

You'll need an adapter that works in your country. If once you have that it still does not work then you probably need a new battery. Without a working battery you won't be able to play the DS even if the charger is plugged in. The charging light will flash and go out if the battery is bad.
