Norcent LT2720 TV comes on, is receiving power but no screen and also has a loud screeching/helicopter sound that is not controlable by volume or mute keys. When I power off then back on again maybe 20-30 times the picture will pop on and stay on. However if I go away and the system enters sleep mode, I have the same of no screen and the process of repowering is taking longer and longer now. Advise?
Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

User 'rapolley' is absolutely right. One can cycle through the functions to access different options, ie. 'TV', 'Audio', 'DVD', etc. I stumbled upon this solution when I thought my 'Menu' button wasn't working. All I had to do is cycle through the 'Functions' and choose 'Menu' once I get to 'TV'. Thanks!

I'm pretty ignorant on a lot of this stuff, so no bets here, but I did get the Dish network remote to power a Norcent tv on and off by using the code posted in the manual for an NCT television. Good luck.

Sounds like a overheating issue. Try facing a large fan blowing across the back of the unit and see if this changes anything. If it does, it might help to blow the back out with compressed air as dust might be helping it overheat.
SOURCE: screeching sound and display of color bars with no picture
it is two 1000uf 10 volt capacitors on the power board. the tops of the
capacitors will look like they are bulging. total cost of parts around
five dollars. if you can use a soldering iron and have a half hour to
spare this will fix it .there are alot of polaroid customers that have had
this problem and fixed it themselves. just click on the follwing to see
the video on this fix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unuS3CvmWtw

This unit should still be under warranty and should be taken in for warranty service. Any attempt to access the interior will void the warranty. It is important that a complete description of the problem like you entered here be taken along when you bring the set in for service. This will insure that the servicer be able to reproduce the problem and resolve it.
From your description (and as a servicer), I would be looking for a component that is heat sensitive. These types of problems are fairly easy to locate and resolve.
Please take this in for warranty service and update this when you find out the details.
Thanks,
Dan
