Re: Brother MFC-210C

Do you use generic ink carts?

Please insert an original brother BK cart. In case the printhead is OK the machine should work again. If there is still trouble the printhead might be clogged and cant be fixed anymore due to wrong chemical additives within the generic ink!

When inserted the original brother ink cart run the powerpurge:
press menue then start b/w (blue button) then foutimes arrow-up button. Machine is within the maintanance mode. press 7 then 6 then 3. Display shows PowerP_All. Press start b/w (blue button). Machine runs power cleaning. Press 9 then 9  to leave the maintanance mode. Print a test print sheet.

How do I clean my Brother MFC 210C. I've done it before ont eh computer, but can't find where to do it this time.

Press the Ink or Ink Management key on the control panel of the machine. Press the up or down navigation key to select TEST PRINT and press Menu/Set or Set. Press the up or down navigation key to select PRINT QUALITY and press Menu/Set or Set. Press Color (Colour) Start. The machine begins printing the Print Quality Test Sheet. By reviewing this Test Sheet, you can determine if the print quality needs improvement. The display will then ask you if the print quality is OK for black and three colors. Press 2 (NO) for black or three colors with the problem.

The display will then show START CLEANING? 1.YES 2. NO. Press 1 (YES) and the machine will start cleaning the color ink cartridges.

Try cleaning the black printer heads several times in a row, at least 5 times then print a black document with best quality setting.
Press the ink button, then down to select select cleaning and then press menu/set and menu/set again to select black.

MFC does not recognise the new black ink cartridge.

Disconnect power supply and USB lead (leave disconnected for 10 min). Repeat this for each colour that is not working and hey presto the LCD readout will revert to normal and you will be able to print again. Happy Christmas! Hope this works for you (worked for me)

Borther mfc210c black ink not printing even after cleaning

if your brother machine is within warranty, give the tech support a call. if not, replace the black cartridge with a new one. it may be a defective cartridge that you have or if you are using refilled cartridges, it will also give the same problem

Printer not printing

Unfortunately, like most multi cartridge ink jet printers when one ink is empty the printer will cease printing regardless of whether you just want to print in black and white and you have plenty of black ink left. I have heard of people tricking the printer into believing the cartridge is full by placing coloured tape etc in front of the ink sensing device but I am not sure how the Brother senses the ink levels as i have some aftermarket ink cartridges for mine which seem to be completely non-opaque (unlike the originals). The need to have colour cartridges in even if you only ever print with black ink is good news for Brother as the MFC-210c uses a large amount of ink during it's routine cleaning cycles (that you cant stop) and will empty all 3 cartridges in under 6 months without ever printer a single drop of colour ink. Sorry about all the bad news, at least your not alone......
