take off cover when unplugged from wall. Check that a dvd is not stopping it from opening. Sometimes the stick part in middle sticks. It problem repeats - get a new dvd player.

You just simply replace the rubber wheel of an open / close motor. how to fix this: open the cover of the DVD and turn it on DVD, press the open button when the DVD tray out, you can see where the location of the rubber. The rubber usually has no more tense, not strong enough to pull and push the DVD tray. 

something stuck our dvd-door.
1. open the dvd
2. remove the thing that block our dvd door (like paper, tissue, paperclip)
or
maybe our dvd mechanic door had block by dust
-----basicaly, clean it.

in my case. I knock the upper top of the dvd door hard (but not by hammer, by my hand) while i push open button (the menu open/'open' word is display at the menu). if u're lucky, the dvd door will open

Does your dvd drive opens other dvd's if it does, that means your dvd has gone bad but if your dvd drive fails to play any dvd's than it's a problem with your dvd drive.

Best way to test it would be to insert a new empty dvd and see if your dvd drive opens it.

if your dvd tray is not open you need a one inch pin or needle into hole..the hole right side .....then your dvd tray open

I had the same problem - unplug first- it is easy to undo all 6 small screws - open it up -plug in and then you can give it a little help to open it. It worked for me, BUT now it will open and close but not play the dvd.
