Question about Samsung SCX-4216F All-In-One Laser Printer
I am helping a friend who wants to scan and archive multi-page documents with the MFP they have which is a Samsung SCX-4216F Multi-function printer. The logical choice is to scan to an Adobe Acrobat pdf file. This is easy with HP All-In-One machines. Can it be done with a SCX-4216F?

In windows, Scx 4216f comes with Samrthru3 which does not come with pdf scan option , however you can use the newer verasion of smarthru4 which is available with scx4100/scx4521f .
All you need to do is choose Scx4216f as the device in smarthru window. and you will be able to scan in PDF format.
Will be quite simple.

Yes.. all you need is Linux, the Samsung Unified Driver and the SANE backend. The Linux driver is quite poor and needs some adjusting - this is due Samsung's policy of not providing an open source driver. But once it's running, XSane allows you to scan to multiple-page-pdfs even from the ADF.
