My LBP 800 printer works well on all applications

My LBP 800 printer works very well with all applications except when using Internet Explorer 8 (which I downloaded recently). It worked perfectly with the IE7. When printing documents from the internet (such as hotmail messages, .pdf documents etc) the document ''spools'' and renders the process as unresponsive. I have Windows XP and the printer driver which was installed by the computer shop in 2003 when I purchased a new computer. If I have to instal a later version of the printer driver, how do I go about removing the old driver and installing the new one? I am not very computer literate and would appreciate step by step instructions as to how to fix this issue.

PS: I also recently purchased the 2009 Norton Anti virus software and use their 'Live Update'' before I go on the net. I have Adobe Std 7 Professional for .pdf docs.
