Damper wide open barely moves when temp control is rotated from 1-7
The damper is not opened and closed just by control movement alone. Your control connects to the damper by a notched plastic band. The damper also has a temperature sensor on it. To check damper operation set control to 4. Hold an ice cube to the temp sensor (a coil of small aluminum tubing) and the damper sholud close. As long as the fresh food comprtment is calling for cold air, the damper will remain open reguardless of control setting.
Your damper operation sounds OK. Normal product temps are from 0* - 10* in the freezer and 36* - 42* in the fresh food compartment. Test temps by putting a thermometer in a cup of cooking oil that has been in each compartment overnight. A wide open damper would be asking for more cold air in the fresh food compartment. There is either one or two return air vents in the floor of the fresh food compartment. Look to the rear under the crisper. The return air vent(s) should be inobstructed. You also want to see if the back (interior) wall of the freezer has any frost build up. This would indicate an issue with a defrost component and would restrict airflow. Also verify the evaporator (freezer) fan is turning at full speed.

Thanks for the info, when set on #4 with ice applied to the sensor the damper is at the half way point. If I turn the temp dial to 1 the damper is almost closed as I rotate the dial to 7 the damper will open fully. The inside temp stays at about 60 deg. It turns on but no cooling action, runs for about 10 min and shuts off. As stated the freezer is perfect. Please help the beer is getting warm!!! Thanks, Mike.
Thank you, 5 12 packs of soda were placed on the lower shelf thus blocking the vents. Everything is fine. The Beer is cold! Thanks again, Mike.
