I have just purchased a new Panasonic DVD-S53 which won't play all my discs so I would appreciate finding out how to delete the Zoning restrictions making it Multi-Zoned. Thankyou in advance.

I went looking for specific codes for my remote control and stumbled on several sites which off the "region unlock" code and the procedure. Try a search with your specific model and make (try different variations of the model with and without spaces and dashes) and the term "region unlock code" and/or "hack".

I have not tried these procedures as I don't need them but typically they were simple: Open tray, enter the code, close tray. Good luck

This isn't quite what everyone is looking for but I've found that using a free viewer called VLC on my computer allowed me to view almost any DVD...but of course, only on the computer!http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Since I'm a guy I naturally don't read instructions so it took me a while to get it to work properly but it should work.

I dont think it can play other dvds with different regions...but you can take off the regions by copying the DVD using DVD Decrypter. or similar decrypting softwares

You have indicated the Model No, but not the brand. If you could provide the brand also, perhaps you might be able to get more help. Most DVD players are region free, and get coded by the manufacturer only in the final stage of manufacture. there are Hacks which can make a DVD player region free, so that it plays DVDs from most countries / regions

Good luck, haven't hacked that one yet...most dvd recorders allow region change 4 X then locks it to that 4th region, I'm waiting for hitachi to build theirs with the codes inside, like their old table top VCR with NTSC/PAL/PAL2/SECAM/MESECAM auto configured.

SOURCE: How to change region codes from only 4 to 2 & 4

1) Turn on the player with no disc in the tray
2) Press the Open/Close button to open the tray
3) Press the info button, the firmware version shows up (mine was 080220.13.B.1080PXKEG)
4) After the version info disappears, close the tray again by pressing the Open/Close button
5) At this point, it will show "no disc" at the top. Press the Info button again, and this will disappear.
6) Now type the code that applies for your region (R4 is 76884). A '4' will briefly show up at the top left corner
7) Now press 9, and 9 will show up in the top left corner
8) Power off the player, and turn it on again. You'll have a multi region player

Enjoy

Changing dvd region codes

You can't change the DVD coding. That part is how the DVD is recorded. However, your Mac will play DVDs from another region. It just typically defaults to one region. I have deleted the DVD player software (and preferences files) before and reloaded it to play DVDs from another region. If you plan to regularly play DVDs from multiple regions, you might want to look for special DVD software that will read DVDs from multiple regions.

Hi, I have a samsung dvd/vcr combo player model number v6800 which I hacked to be region free. It now plays dvds with region codes regardless from where they originate (ie; 1 or 4), however, some of my...

If the dvds which are "all regions" are recorded from a computer, your dvd player may not play them. I assume the dvds which have a region code have been professionally prepared. Sometimes, the cheap dvd players will play anything while the more sophisticated ones will give you trouble unless everything is just perfect.

I have the 5083 dvd player, but it only seems to play region 2 dvds. I've tried going through the menus, but it asks for a country code. The codes are two letters A-Z. I'm assuming that there's...

The Country Code is just related to the Subtitles etc and nothing to do with the Region.
Most DVD Players/Recorders are set to Play the Region of DVD from the Country they were purchased from. Only some are Region Free (will play DVDs from any Country) when purchased.

Some DVD Players/Recorders can be changed to Region Free by simply entering a code on the Remotes handset or by following instructions to enter a Service Menu and change it their.

Unfortunately yours can only be changed by updating the Firwmare which is a risky and difficult process even if you know what you're doing. I wouldn't advise anyone to try it without previous experience as you could render your DVD Player/Recorder useless.

I am in australia and play region 4 dvds I want to but a region 1 dvd will it play?

HELLO

Not if your machine is locked to Region 4! It's possible there may be a region hack for your machine, have a look on www.videohelp.com and go to the hacks section.

To see if it will play try to borrow a region 1 disc. If it does not play, then you'll only be able to play Region 4 discs only.

ALL THE BEST (:-)

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER DMR-ES35V

DVDs are region coded. This means that they will only play on a DVD player from the region the DVD was produced to be watched in. For example, an Australian DVD is Region 4. It will only play on a Region 4 player. If you try to play it on a player that is set for a different region, it will probably not play. One way around this is to get hold of a multi region player. These are widely available. Alternatively, you should be able to watch the DVD on your computer, although you may need some region free software if your computer's dvd player has been locked. Usually computer DVD players will allow you to play DVDs from any region a few times and then they will lock to a particular Region Code. If you are in North America, you will need a PAL player. The only other thing you may be able to do is to unlock your existing player to convert it to region free. Many DVD players can be unlocked but you would need to find the unlock information for your paticular player. Hope this helps....

New DVD from Australia will not play

Hi patjune333,

Welcome to the wonderful and stifling world of DVD region coding! This is a 'security and protection' implementation that has been around for awhile, though most folks have had the luxury of remaining blissfully unaware of it.

See, there are (last I knew) six different region codes in the world. Based on the way that the DVDs are coded (as well as DVD players), discs made in particular regions will only play in particular DVD players. So if you've got a DVD from Australia, which is Region 4, and you're trying to play it in the States or Canada, which is Region 1, this is most likely not going to work. Movies are released on the big screen across the globe at different times, and this is one of the main reasons for the region coding.

Many DVD players (at least PC ones) will give you an option of which region code you wish to use if you try to play a disc from a different region; however, this is not always the case. There are also 'region-free' software programs out there that might alleviate your problem, but I'm not sure about the legality of them. Bear in mind that the Region Coding generally interfaces with the physical firmware on the DVD player so if you use a new player to play a Region 4 DVD you might not be able to play any DVDs from North America.

Here we go - check out this link for detailed info on region coding.

Hope that helps!

Ben
