Question about Dual Maxus 5.8GHz Handset Cordless Phone

Wired base unit

The remote base works fine...charges hand-set appropriately.  However, the wired/land-line base seems to have a short in it or something.   It no longer charges the hand-set, and the light blinks all the time.  Sometimes if I bounce the hand-set up and down a few times, it seems to make a connection and occasionally will charge.  Is it time to buy a new phone?  The Radio Shack guy was totally uncooperative and offered no solution.  I bought the phone in January of 2005.  Should I just replace it?

Re: wired base unit

Try a simple thing, replace the phone cord that goes from the wall to the phone with a new one. That'll make sure you still have a good phone connection. Cords cheap.

You have a power transformer that plugs into the wall.  See if you can find a replacement at a surplus store or Radio Shack (a different store)  Take the old one with you so you can match the voltage/ampere and connector.  If its new it will work fine.  If its surplus, it's hit or miss.

If that does not work  or you don't want to bother buy as new phone.  With the constant upgrades you might find one with better features you'll like more.  Who knows.

Good luck

The base set has to be connected to the land line. It's telling you:

Is there a antenna booster for a Panasonic phone system with 1 base unit and the rest cordless hand sets

That is an odd set up. The law requires only a certain amount of power to be used for phones. To much RF close to the body is danngerous. If you want you can get a land line phone and remote phones seperately. But that is alot of phones.

The base unit will not charge hand sets . I have cleaned the contacts on base unit as recommended. Please note the remote unit charges both handsets.

The problem is in the remote charger or batteries in each phone is the issue. If you are handy with a meter, "set it to DC volts" press down on the charging tabs, you should have at least 3.6V to 12V if it reads 0 the remote charger is defective.

I have a KX TG2356 cordless, when I hang up the hand set, the battery will not recharge, why? I got out an old KX-TG2258 and put the hand set on it and it IS charging, but I can use that with my current...

typical fault is bad or no connection between charging terminals and hand set charging terminals...try to clean them using emery cloth or fine sand paper....sometimes even though the contacts look clean they still have bad connections because of an oxide layer that builds up....that oxide layer can easily be taken off with a light sanding......if that doesn't work, then have your hand set checked for internal open solder lines or regulator circuitry faults that regulates power feed to the battery to monitor charging status...
good luck

Is this just an i need a base unit

I 'mixed' two sets by not pluggin the 2nd base unit into the phone line, thus treating it as just another remote.  Then I registered each remote into the one base unit and they all work fine.  Try re-registering the entire set of phones to one base unit.  Make sure it's a base unit that supports that many remotes.
