On-Screen Menu The on-screen menu of my Samsung 931BF sporadically comes on, and the AUTO configuration runs multiple times at random intervals.

One site suggested to basically power down for 5 minutes and then restart. that didn't work.

I tried to install the software that came with it- no help, then uninstall, no help.

I tried to tape down the menu button, that helped until the button pushed the tape loose.

No solution yet. My 17 inch flat screen monitor clearly says
Samsung Model 731 on the label on the back and yet this model is not recognized by this site. I need help getting rid of this pesky box that keeps popping up in the middle. Other models obviously have experienced the same.

How to open case/shell of Samsung SynMaster 931BF???

You remove all the screws, stand, then useing the thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case, starting at the bottom edge and work your way around, it is hard to tell you in words. Try Youtube also.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 931BF. I love the screen, but for quite awhile, the screen has been having a hard time coming on and staying on. I'll have to cycle the power multiple times to get the screen...

Remove its stand
Unscrew all the screws in the back.
It doesnt just lift off I guess you could say, there are many clamps around the edge that need to be "popped" by sliding anything thin enough to get between the front and back of the case to pop them.

I popped mine open the other night. The clamps appear to be hard to break, at least in my circumstance. None of them broke with a fair amount of pressure from pulling being applied.

Also, mine had your exact same issue until one day it no longer turned on completely. It just flashed the screen once and showed a flashing power light around the button. Replacing 3 capacitors that were just barely bulging on the top fixed the issue.

My auto synch screen flashes on and off periodically and the birghtness menu comes on the screen for no reason and wont go away. How do I fix this?

More likely to have power supply problem when it does strange things.
Very common problem with all LCD monitors. Look for caps with leaking/bulging tops.
See failed SAMSUNG and other brands here to get some idea what to look for inside if you are going to DIY repair.

Stupid padlock/main menu keeps opening and closing DELLe152fp

That is the OSD (On Screen Display) system built-in to your computer monitor. Check that when you hit the ON/OFF button on your monitor, that you do *NOT* hit the 'OSD ON/OFF' button.

Most of the time, the OSD will disappear after 10 seconds of "non-use".
