Power turns but screen stays black no

Sounds like you need a new LCD Screen(is the screen a little lit up or completely blank) If completely blank than most likely the LCD needs to be replaced if it appears to be slightly lit up than most likely it is a software related issue.

Hi. the mobicam keeps turning on and off and the light is flashing?

What does the VOX switch do?
When the VOX function is active, both the LCD screen & Audio turn off and will automatically reactivate when there is
noise in the room being monitored (e.g. baby crying). This feature is useful at night so the light coming from the screen
doesn't bother you and also when running the MobiCam Ultra receiver on batteries since it will extend the life of the
batteries. Note: The VOX function will not work when batteries are low and you cannot change channels on the receiver in
the VOX mode

New batteries are not lasting longer than a day

Battery life can fluctuate greatly from day to day. It all depends on the type of photography you are doing. For example, on one day, you spent the day taking pictures outside in the sunlight, with no flash, and didn't use your camera's screen to review any of the pictures. The next day, you spent the day inside, taking lots of pictures using the flash, zooming in and out on people's faces and reviewing the pictures using the camera's screen.
Features like the flash, zoom, LCD screen and image stabilization (IS) use a great deal more battery life than if you were to not use any of those features. This could explain why it suddenly seems like the batteries aren't lasting more than a day.
However, if your photography habits have not changed enough to potentially affect battery life, there could be an issue with either the image stabilization hardware or the standby mode of the camera. If the image stabilization (a fully mechanical feature) is malfunctioning, it could be activating when it shouldn't be, such as when the camera is on but you aren't about to take a picture.
I would try testing the camera by taking pictures using different camera settings.
  1. Turn off the flash and image stabilization, use the viewfinder instead of the LCD live view mode, do not zoom in or out. Take as many pictures as you can before the batteries die.
  2. Keep the flash and image stabilization on, use the LCD live view mode, use the zoom frequently. Take as many pictures as possible before the batteries die.
With test #1, you should see much better battery life than with test #2. If you still experience decreased battery life either way, there may be a hardware issue with the camera. Should this be the case, contact Canon Support to find out whether or not your manufacturer's warranty covers this problem.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

I have new batteries in my S5000 but do not get an image on lcd

On the back there should be a small button above and to the right of the LCD screen that says EVF/LCD. You might try pressing it to change it, this is provided you can see through the viewfinder already.

Motorola cordless phone - can't read the screen any more. I ttok out battery and replaced it , but still the same.

Is the screen a LCD? These screens are difficult to read and only by changing the viewing angle makes it visible. If the screen has completely become black or all the numbers look like 8's? Since you've already replaced the batteries, eliminating all electrical malfunction my instinct is of the leakage of liquid in LCD screens( remember the old calculators, and how it responded if the screen was pressed hard). In that case the entire display screen will have to be changed. If it isn't cost-effective, I guess instead of attempting repair--------- get a new phone.........sodeep
