Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

AT&T GoPhone I bought the GoPhone yesterday, called for activation. The number provided was for an automated system. I followed the instructions and at the end I was given a telephone number for Lousiana and I live in CA. I called and got a live person who informed my because I had gone through the automated system there is nothing they can do for me. So, I have a cell phone I can't use. What can I do to get them to give me a number in my own area? Vickie

Vickie,
Nothing we can do here but here's what you can do:

1. Call them back!  Demand "THEY" correct the problem.  It was they who screwed up in the first place. Ask them to tell you who to call.  Ask them to Issue you  a right number or replace the old one.  Get a "RMA" number so you can go back to the store where you bought it.   If you bought it on line the same thing.  Speak to the Manager, get his name or ID number.

2. OR...Go back to the store where you got it. Demand an immediate fix if you don't get satisfaction.

3. You live in Calif where I once lived.  Calif has several very powerful consumer laws.  Use them! Make many notes on who you talk too at AT&T, times and dates.  File a complaint with the local district attorneys office and the State Consumer Affairs office, all  on line too.  I'd go as far as calling the local district attorney office right from the "store" and file a complaint.  That'll get their attention.

I had a similar thing happen to me but with the Internet service with AT&T. I did all  the above. It went all the way to the State Attorney Office filing criminal charges for "consumer fraud" against AT&T in the state of New York because Calif Consumers Affairs Office didn't get a response from them.  It got fixed but unfortunately 1 year later but it fixed the problem for thousands of other people too.  AT&T's attitude is I'm big you're little.  I got over $3000 for my troubles in refunds.

You are not helpless fight them!

One other thing...don't loose your temper.  Be firm and demanding.  A lot of times people really do want to help you but they don't know how. It's not a problem on their answer cards so they need to ask someone else. Talk to the Supervisors.

How to get Vista ricovery cd's?

If you have a valid license with your laptop, and it sounds as if you do, all you need to do is contact Microsoft and activate your installation. Since the internet activation apparently has failed, here are two additional methods:

Activate Windows Vista by using the automated telephone system loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); To activate Windows Vista by telephone, you must use an automated telephone system. To activate Windows Vista by using the automated telephone system, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Computer.
  2. On the toolbar, click System properties, and then click Click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation section.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  3. Click Show me other ways to Activate.
  4. Click Use the automated phone system, and then follow the instructions.
uparrow.gifBack to the top Method 3: Contact Microsoft loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); If Windows detects that the hardware on your computer has changed significantly, and the previous method does not solve your problem, you may have to contact Microsoft for help. To view the Microsoft Activation Centers Worldwide Telephone Numbers list, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=71142

It may be best to go directly to Method 3, find the phone number and call MS. Once you explain your situation they should activate without any issue.

Good luck, and please let me know how this works out for you.

I cant log on to my system, it is asking 4 updation of vista

When you try to activate vista, Microsoft checks if the 25 character code from the vista cd case was submitted before by someone.
If you bought the windows so it is genuine then obviously noone has submitted the key before, so they accept it, and send back the confirmation ID. So that is where you get it from.

Since you do not have internet, you probably have to do the phone way of activation. So when windows prompts you for activation choose

"Use the automated phone system to activate"

This gets you the phone number related to your area. Select your nearest location and click next.

Click continue for UAC support.

Then you get the local phone number and a set of numbers generated by windows which you will need during the phone call.

Call the activation phone number that it gave you, it will be a machine voice on the phone asking you to repeat the numbers that windows gave you or type them into your phone via the buttons. Do one of the two.

The automated service then gives you the confirmation ID. Make sure you have paper and pen ready, write the numbers down! (should the activation be NOT successfull, do not hang up, you will be transferred to an operator).

If it worked, and the automated service gave you a confirmatino ID, then type the confirmation ID into your vista activation screen, where it asks for it.

Then you get the activation was successfull window and you are done!!:)

If you are unsure about the whole process, then just get so far to call the number, and fail at the activation, stay on the line and wait for the operator, they will help you with it, just explain the situation.

If you have any more questions, please let me know, will gladly help.

Let me know if this worked and if it helped, please rate me. :)
