Toyota troubleshooting 1989 Toyota vanwagon went from instant starts every time to wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-, etc, eventual starts following my blowing out carbon with a hard acceleration for a few seconds. The next start is when the problem began. I've since checked out the cold start switch, cold start valve, and replaced the distributor cap, rotor and plugs, and, still, it won't start right up. What else could be the problem?

Check maf sensor. As a test, cable tie the connector to the MAF plug.
