Re: Can't find file

Try looking the cd-r up on Although you could just uninstall / disable the driver that the system is asking for untill you find the cd-r or install the new one.

My hp mini 110 will not load and gives me an error \system32\hal.dll is missing or corrupt

Give this a try you probably have a virus..

Download The following iso listed below. It is the latest version of the Kaspersky rescue disk. You need to burn it to a CD with a program like Imgburn (Which is also FREE like the iso file). Then you need to boot from the CD and run the scanner. It should fix you right up.

Try this:
1. First you need Vista Recovery Disk .iso file. Can be downloaded here: [redacted]
2. Then you probably need image burning program. I prefer CD Burner XP >
3. When you have installed CD Burner XP, start program, choose "Burn ISO image" and browse to Vista Recovery Disk.iso file.
4. When program has finished to burn ISO image, put CD into PC with "boot mgr is missing" problem.
5. Re-start PC, press F2 2-3 times, go into BIOS Setup Utility, choose Boot, move CD/DVD unit up to the first line with F6. Press F10 , choose YES.

Samsung notebook states cannot start as windows file missing and to use disc to repair, however as it is a note book there is no disc drive or disc.

You need a repair/reset CD, and you may need an USB external drive to read it if yours doesn't work or isn't available. The CD may be obtained by Samsung tech support. For Windows XP and Vista you just select OS installation and hit 'R' for repair.

Alternatively you can note down the name of the missing file, locate and save it on a USB key from a computer with the same OS version, and boot the PC using Universal Boot CD (UBCD). Then just copy the file where it should be. Unless you're short a specific driver or VXD, most other files are drop-in compatible.

Booting failed

You will need to reinstall windows, either with a recovery disc from your computers manufacture or buy a copy of Windows Vista or take it to a PC Repair shop.

Now it will be cheaper if you buy the recover disc, they go for around $40.00 to $60.00. You can do it faster and cheaper by using a recovery CD.

Compaq Presario 1700 PC Notebook Problem gives me a screen windows will not strat because file is corrupted or missing file is \windows\system32\config\system

Is this XP?
Do you have the XP cd or the recovery cd's. This needs to be fixed by performing a Windows repair.
missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system"means that the OS,XP, is missing an essential file to run.
Or it could mean that your hard drive is failing. Is the hard drive noisey?
