It's a 13 yr old set. We had a power outage here at night, maybe there was a spike. Anyway, is it time to get a new set?

The buzzing noise you are hearing is most likely the ballast fire, this is good. You most likely have a bad lamp which is the best case for you. I would recommend pulling the lamp out and looking at it to see if its physically shattered or not.
The instructions for pulling the lamp can be found in your owners manual. If you do not have this anymore just look on the sides or the back of the tv for a small door with a screw or 2 in it. take those screws out and the door should come off, then take the screw(s) out of the lamp and pull it out. if you see glass rolling around inside you will need a new lamp. Let me know and I will help you find a good one at a good price.

Thats the 140 v error. Check the HV wire ( large Red Wire) The coinnection can cause that issue.

Hi: Three flashes for the power indicator indicates convergence failure, Most failures are the large black convergence IC's on the convergence board, have these replace to restore operation, The Part number should be on the chips themselves. But just in case the part number of the are STK-392-110, Replace them with 120 for extra life expectancy. (STK-392-120)
SOURCE: No picture. Turned off the TV at night and next
Your convergence IC's have burnt out.
Ask yourself this:
Is the Tv worth saving? is it bright and clear? was it good (when it worked?)
if
the answer to all of these is yes, then you have a few choices. If any
of these are not true, then you should just get a new tv.
Your choices are:
If
you are good at soldering, then you can attempt to replace the IC's
yourself. (with all of the parts handy, it should take 1 hour)
If
you aren't good at soldering, then you can have a friend do it for you,
or you can have a mechanic fix it. (tell them that its the convergence
IC's that went bad. (pay no more than $200 for the job).
here is what they look like:

(the number may be different)
Here is an idea of what your tv looks like on the inside:

(btw, to disconnect "those" all you have to do is lift up underneath where the white thing bridges the two boards and they will pop up.)
A
word of the wise, do NOT open up your tv and attempt this if you don't
know what you're doing. There is extremely high voltage inside, even
when it's unplugged......so don't get shocked!!!
If you need more info on replacing the IC's, contact me.
Thanks for asking!
