My player has worked perfectly for approx. 6 months. Last evening I paused the movie I was watching for 3-5 minutes and when I unpaused the movie I had no sound. I have tried everything I know and could read to do. The sound will now not play even with a different Blu Ray movie.

on a USB stick and plug it into the player. Follow the onscreen
instructions (basically just press OK). The entire process takes less
than 5 minutes from download to finish.
Put film on pause, exit, watch another film for 20 minutes. Return, watch film until message comes up again, pause, exit go back to other film for another 20 minutes. Etc. Eventually you will see the whole film after 4-5 shifts. Otherwise, shun Sony.

The problem with using rental discs is that they are dirty. Buy a dvd player cleaning disc and follow the instructions. These discs help to realign the laser. If this does not help try cleaning the disc with a disc cleaner. Also depending on how new the dvd is there have been a lot of discs manufactured outside of the US that have been bad. It may not be your machine but the discs. I personally went through 6 of the same movie before i gave up and rented something else that worked perfectly fine. Hope this helps you watch.
Durabrand portable DVD players are no longer supported because the company that made them for Walmart went out of business last Novemeber. You can contact Walmart for a replacement unit.

Sometimes this unit gets "confused" - not sure why -- but try first using a CD cleaning disk and let it start and stop a couple times (sometimes lens gets dirty and does this) - if that doesn't help then try unplugging unit and leave unplugged (from wall socket) for about 30min then plug in, set local time and then see if the disks play okay - sometimes this "resets system"
