Hello -- I have a Sharp AF S85FX-A window A/C unit that fell out the window & ripped out the wires. No damage to the components internally other than some broken plastic and what not, but I am unable to figure out where the wires go. I was an automotive A/C tech, but house electrical is beyond my realm. Anyhow, there are three wires within the cord that pulled cleanly from the terminal connectors and bent the blades on the ckt board but didn't break them. They are approx. 10/12 gauge, black & white and those are the wires that had blade connectors on them. There is also a green wire in the middle that appeared to pull apart from the one internally and break. The power wires go to the ckt board which is marked "power" and "fan." I'm not sure which go where. Also, it's baffling that the heavy rubber insulation around the power wires where it goes through the chassis I can see no entry point and no insulation pulled apart on the inside.
Please help! Dyin' here! John, Vancouver, WA

- Was cleaning unit since I had it torn apart and noticed a wiring schematic sticker on the frame. Duh! Can't believe I didn't notice it before, but that's the information I needed. So problem solved on my own.

Gas heat does not always come on when it is switched on, when it does it works fine when it does not, the house is filled with a bad smell, I'm assuming unused gas. we have had the burners scrubbed with a wire brush before and no problems for 2 years. Can the burners just be replaced? Pilot light works fine. The furnace tries to come on, i can hear it clicking to ignite. Thanks Ronnie from Atlanta

I have an Amana Gas Fired Furnace Model CCA24FCC. It recently started blowing cold air out of the vent registers in the house and would then shut off after a call for heat at the thermostat with the setting on Auto. In the ON setting the circulator fan just blows ambient temp air. Upon further investigation I found I have a blinking LED. It blinks three times. The manual says- pressure switch circuit not closed. That is the case because the induced draft blower is not spinning. When a call for heat occurs this fan should spin. The pressure switch is functioning- with the furnace off or not operational the switch has no continuity across its terminals. When I pull a slight vacuum on the switch, I can hear it move and then my ohmeter has continuity across it. The problem is the draft motor wont run. When the furnace is switched on or a call for heat occurs, I do not have any voltage at the induced draft blower motor terminals nor do I have voltage at the control unit terminals. Am I on the right track to replacing the control unit? By the way, I had skipped replacing my filters for a few months and they were really dirty when I replaced them today while diagnosing the furnace.
