My LG RH299H DVD Recorder, says PLEASE WAIT forever

When switched on it says HELLO and then scrolls PLEASE WAIT forever. There is no DVD Disc inserted (can't even open it, to insert a disc) When listening close, you can hear it resets the HDD and DVD Drive every now and then.
