Re: help

Yes Xante said ok but it isnt possible to find paper with fine coating to print on ILUMINA. So whay you buy it if you cant use fine coated papers. Endusers want shiny gloss coating and this product isnt for it !

Re: help

How low is your black drum? During the winter months the humidity is lower which can cause more background toning on coated/glossy stocks.

I know Xante has a code update, that resolves alot of the background toning issues on glossy media.

You should call them to see if they have a fix.

Well, I think that is over spec for your machine. Are you using a coated stock? What type, gloss, silk, matte? Is your paper cut 18 x 12?

Dear sir i buy dc 12 machine. now the paper not going on at 5th tray. it was jamed part off. what can i do? pls help me. charles

The feed rollers for tray 5 need to be cleaned periodically, especially if you have been using coated stock.dampen a lint free cloth with isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing Alcohol) and carefully clean each roller.

Gently turn them with your finger so you clean them all around.

Perhaps drum exposed to sunlight too long. It will ruin drum.
Could be foreign material inside drum or printer.
Run heavy stock through printer with nothing on page, to do this-
Open up Word. type a period, or a comma.
Print 10-20 copies.
This may clear it up.

Prints streaks of lines with fussy & unclear colur

Yes cleaning the LED heads do make a difference. If they are even the slightest bit dirty your output will be affected. However the quality of the prints on these printers are not very good. I have 3 of them and all of the product subpar quality (right out of the box) especially with lighter solid background colors.

On card stock (especially coated card stock) you'll notice shading on the entire page. Again this happened out of the box on all three of my printers. I researched this and read that it was an effect of the LED technology.

Also if you look closely at your prints you'll notice that there are bars in your print. These bars look like there could be something wrong with the LED matrix...

I just installed a magicolor 7450 II and man what a difference. No shading, perfect picture quality, and larger banner printing (12" x 47") Of course the price tag is a lot more ($3k)

I'm on my second machine since December. Neither P-Touch would feed the white tape, the other layers bunch up inside the machine. Called Brother, and they were no help (indeed not much interested in my problem), except to suggest I clean the rollers with alcohol/q-tip. This action did result in the tape feeding, but not properly as I now get an unusable label strip with all three layers, and printing on the clear layer backed by black layer. POS if you ask me; it is going back to the store.

Paper keeps jamming

To print card stock you must us the manual slot in the front of the printer and feed one at a time. Also open the back flap door so the card stock can exit out the back instead of trying to bend around for the try. That will give you the staight paper path that your thick stock needs.

A Very light Grey shade/Ghost like residue on glossy paper but not reg paper

I have looked and this problem confused me to no end.
I started searching through engineering notes from Xerox and found this line which I am copying and pasting.
This is not my opinion I can send you the entire report if you wish.
But sadly here is the answer.

Although supported, glossy paper will exhibit background toner and is a limitation of the printer technology.

Black colour prints faded

Have you adjusted the settings on the machine and in the driver to heavy stock? That will make a difference in the transfer of the image adn the fusing.
Telling the machine you are printing onto heavier stock makes a differenec. if this is a print job, it will have to be changed on the machine and in the print driver. The machine will ask you to confirm the paper settings when you add paper.
You have to select the paper type in the driver.

Xante Ilumina Digital Color

it is a fact of digital print that toner scatter will apear ever so slightly. But it is noticable much more on glossy stock, as there is a high reflectivity, and no micro valleys in surface texture to loose it in..having said that...glossy stock is very difficult to print on with the Ilumina..even on label setting/ auto select for weight and Media switch on(this is the best I have been able to achieve)
