Question about Zebra Symbol Technologies MC909X-G Series Barcode Scanner

1 Answer

Our keyboards lock and we cannot enter data or log in. Cold boots do not work. What do we do?

We need a little more info. When you say you cannot "enter data or log in", what is it that you are trying to log in to? What is the name of the application (name is probably at the top of the screen)? Are you able to tap icons on the screen? What does the scan gun boot up to? Is it running AppCenter or does it just boot up to the standard "Today" or "Windows" screen? Do you know if it is running Windows CE or Windows Mobile?

    Thanks,

The keyboards on MC9000 series terminals are replacable. You could have one of two problems-- corrupt firmware or an improperly installed keyboard. Contact the Symbol/Motorola Help Desk at 1-800-653-5350

My numbers keypad is not working

Step 1:
Laptop or Desktop ?
ENABLE NUMLOCK KEYS USING REGITRY Check the LED light that indicates whether or not the Number Lock is enabled. If the light is on, press the "Num Lock" key on your keyboard. Look for the light to turn off, signaling that the Number Lock has been disabled. Change your Number Lock status at start up (Number Lock is disabled on start-up by default). Click "Start," then "Run" and type "regedit" to pull up the Windows Registry. Open the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\" folder, then subsequently open the "Control Panel\" and "Keyboard\" folders. Double-click on "InitialKeyboardIndicators" and change its Data Value to "1," to disable Number Lock on start-up. A value of "2" would turn the Number Lock on after you log in, while a "0" value would result in it turning off after you log in.

CHANGE THE DEFAULT NUMLOCK KEY b> Go to the Start menu. From the Start menu choose "Run." Type in "regedit." Hit "OK" to open the regedit application. This allows you to change your computer's default settings. Navigate to the keyboard's default settings. Using the navigation bar at the left, choose "HKey_Users" then "Default" then "Control Panel" and finally "Keyboard." Look at the right side of the window. On the right are the various default options you can change for your keyboard. Double click on "InitialKeyboardIndicators" to change the NumLock default. A window will pop up. Change the NumLock default by entering a 0 or 2 in the "Value Data" field. Enter a 0 to have the NumLock set to off by default. To set the NumLock to on by default, enter 2. Hit the "OK" button to save your changes. Restart you computer. Your NumLock default changes will not take effect until your computer has been restarted.

When open the compeuter must press f2 for work my computer

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
if this fails to fix the problem you might try safe mode
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things
working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer
is this the only key you have to press might be a log in requirement you have enabled
depending on your operating system click start control panel user accounts change the way you log on you should see log on options change the way users log on/off
learn more about user accounts increase log on security
hope this helps

Acer keyboard not working after logging in to system. But before logging in i can able to type password once i logging in to windows it not working

could be a problem with your Windows OS and you may need reinstalling it. But do try to connect the keyboard in another USB port, try booting in Safe Mode and if none works, verify the keyboard works on another computer. If it does, enter the BIOS of your desktop system, then look for an option related to legacy USB and try to disable it if available. If none found, reset your BIOS to default settings and try the keyboard again in Windows. If none works, try to repair or reinstall Windows specially if another keyboard has the same issue when connected to your computer

What do you do when the computer no longer recognizes your password and you did not change it

Check the Caps & Num Lock to ensure you are typing the password correctly. Use a different keyboard if available.

If it doesnt work, boot the computer in Safe Mode.
Restart the pc. When its about to boot, tap F8 key.
It takes you to the Boot Options screen.
Use Arrow keys, select Safe Mode, press Enter.

If you get the User Account options, select Administrator.
If it lets you log in, issue is fixed. Go to ControlPanel - UserAccounts, remove the password of your account.

But, if it doesnt work, you need to reinstall the Operating System.
Back up ur data (take out the hard drive, connect it to another working pc as a secondary hard drive, you can access and copy your data), and run the recovery disk (OS & driver cd) you got with the pc.

Make sure next time you create a Password Reset Disk as well (through CtrlPanel-UserAccounts, use a DVD or pen drive) to use in such situations.

I cannot log in on my Compaq Evo N400c, I was very

Did you check whether the Caps Lock and the Keypad key is released? If the keypad key is enabled by using maybe the Fn key and one of the F key, some of your keys on your keyboard will be defined as to enter the little alternative characters on them. When it is enabled, you may be able to see a little light on your keyboard under an icon look like a keypad. Sometimes some keys may get stuck or not working so your password is changed when it is typed in. So you can clear the bottom of the keyboard a little bit by maybe put it up side down and maybe shake it a little bit (when turned off) or press those keys down and feel whether it is touching the bottom. When you press one key down you can observe the keys around and see whether something is stucked beneath them. You can use a little air blower or something like a toothpicker to clear stuff under the keys. If you can connect another keyboard to your laptop, you can try that too.
I heard about some program may change the key code of the keyboard so you actually may need to use other keys to enter that character. I hope that is not the case.
If nothing found with the keyboard, you can try to log in with the administrator's account which was created when you install your Windows 2000 and reset the password of the user account you are using. Steps are described in the following document.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258289

You may also boot with your recovery CD and see whether you can get through the login stuff or reinstall the Operating System. As long as you don't repartition or format your data partition your data should be there still.

I was using my laptop and now for some reason I can't type on the keyboard or log off. Did I hit a key and lock it? How do I unlock it?

Use the touchpad and right click on the Taskbar then click on the Task Manager to open it. In the Task manager, click on the users tab to view the list of the logged on users then click on the username that you want to log off then click on the Log off button.
After logging off again use the touchpad to restart the Computer by selecting the appropriate option.
As the Computer is restarting press the button that says on the screen to press to enter to SETUP screen. This will make the Computer boot to the BIOS. In the BIOS check if the keyboard is working by pressing the arrow keys to select the Exit menu to select the restore to default option.
If the keyboard is not working in the BIOS then the keyboard is failed and service is required.
