3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”

2. Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
3. Next click on Enhanced IM.

5. The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker

Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
· The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
· images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends.

After you get your camera installed properly, DO NOT unplug it from the USB port as it will cause
the drivers to be corrupt and render the camera unusable till reinstalled it properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Microsoft updates do not install

You have not said which OS you are using so; from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

When you try to install Windows updates from the Windows Update Web site, the Microsoft Update Web site, or by using Automatic Update, you receive a message that the update is not installed successfully. Additionally, the update is not displayed in the update history.

You may experience this issue in the following scenarios:

Scenario 1 You try to install updates after repair a Windows XP installation by using the Windows XP CD.
Scenario 2 You perform the following operations before you try to install Windows updates:

You perform a new installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
You visit the Windows Update Web site, or the Microsoft Update Web site.
Note When you visit the update Web site, the latest version of Windows Update software will be installed in your computer.
You install Windows XP Service Pack (SP3) without a restart.
You try to install Windows updates after the install of Windows XP SP3.

Then cause ;

This issue occurs because the Wups2.dll file that is included in the latest version of Windows Update is not installed correctly.

For scenario 1, the registry entries that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing after the repair install of Windows XP. The release version of Windows XP does not contain the Windows Update software.

For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2.
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods;

Method 1: Download and install the Windows Update Agent,
For an x86-based computer; http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe

For an x64-based computer http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe

Method 2: Register the Wups2.dll file,

To have MS register the Wups2.dll file in Windows for you, go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144#FixItForMeAlways.

If you prefer to fix this problem yourself,

To register the Wups2.dll file in Windows, follow these steps:

1. Stop the Automatic Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Open the Command Prompt window. To do this, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
net stop wuauserv

2. Register the Wups2.dll file. To do this, follow these steps:

a. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll

Note For a computer that is running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 %windir%\syswow64\wups2.dll

b. Click OK if you receive a verification message.

3. Start the Automatic Updates service. To do this, type the following command at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:

Try to reattach your sound card. It will solve the problem. If it doesn't work you can format your computer or clean the viruses on your computer. If problem still occurs change the sound card.

I want to upgrade my audio drivers and i am searching for the drivers for windows 7 32bit but i cannot find it can you please help me to clear this problem and download the latest drivers :

I’m not very clear with the scenario you described. Generally, the operation of downloading file to local hard disk (unless running some downloaded executable files) should not change the system configurations such as the audio device drivers. Therefore, I suspect that this issue should not be directly caused by the download operation.

Also, if the driver for audio controller is missing, you may use the disk shipped with the audio card or motherboard to reinstall it. Alternatively, you can also visit the manufacturer’s website, download the latest driver designed for your currently used operating system, and then install it.

If I the methods above donn’t fix your issue, please let me know the following:

1. What operating system are you currently using?

Note: If you are using Windows XP and this problem is not related to Windows Vista, please visit forums focusing on Windows XP for further support:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/related/default.mspx

2. Did this audio card work well before?
3. Where did you download Windows XP? How did you know it deletes the audio driver? Were there any other changes or operations before the issue began to occur?
4. Please let me know the brand and model of your audio card or the motherboard.

Thanks!

Method 1 :  Go to BIOS and set anything with SATA disable (usually find uns=der advance setting in IDE configuration setting).
Save the setting.

Windows Xp will detect your hard drive now.

Method 2 : This days BIOS comes with only few thing to configure.if that's is the case.
Download SATA driver, here is the link

http://download.cnet.com/SATA-Driver-Intel-Ver-7-0-0-1020-zip/3000-2122_4-162224.html

you need one more software called "nlite" in order to integrate the SATA driver in Windows XP CD so that it recognize SATA drives.

Here is the link for nlite download

My PC somehow deleted it's own cd/dvd driver. Possibly from a virus that has been eradicated already. Any idea where I can download one from that will work with the dimension 2200?

Hello,
You should first run the add new hardware wizzard, looking specifically for CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives. If the drive is not defective Windows will most certainly detect it and install the appropriate drivers.

To run Add new hardware wizzard, Go to Control Panel, On the left (WIN XP) choose classic view. Find the Add New Hardware icon and click on it. Allow the wizzard to install driver automatically, allow it to go tho the Internet if necessary.

Hope it helps.
